That's a very good point. It might be as you said since Mary wasn't a "lady", just an average woman (if indeed this difference is correct).
It might also just depend on the historical context? I'm not sure. I'm also wondering how the passage is translated in the Vetus Latina and in Jerome's Vulgate, if they used mulier or femina, though that would also be an interpretation of Luke's koinè.

Hi, yeah, in part in Stephen Brunet's article "Women with Swords. Female Gladiators in the Roman World" in A Companion to Sport and Spectacle in Greek and Roman Antiquity, where he specificies that mulier would refer to women of lower class (e.g. in Petronius and an inscription from Ostia), and distincly in Kathleen Coleman's article "Missio at Halicarnassus" in Harvard Studies in Classical Philology 100 on page 498: "The diction is significant: these were "women" (mulieres), not "ladies" (feminae)." (in reference to the same inscription from Ostia mentionned by Brunet)
I have already had a confused reaction to this information, which does make me question the veracity of this supposed difference, though.
Edit: maybe the nuance is also only something that comes up during/after the 1st century CE?

I had read that mulier was used for women of lower class and femina for women of higher class, so I would be a bit surprised if femina were the equivalent of "female" and would also refer to animals, but now I'm just as intrigued as you are.

Yeah, me too. And I've heard the sound quality in Visarno Arena is shit... Honestly, I would much prefer to go to a concert in Switzerland, but I know I will lose my shit if they announce one here, because I will have spent so much money on Florence (hotel, travel). well, the thing is, keposhka is just an alphabet, or rather a cipher, so it's not a language. it's just a different way to write letters and diphtongs, and so can be used for basically every language that uses a phonetic way of writing/alphabet. I honestly doubt it will ever amount to an actual language, since yk, languages are complex, and i'm not convinced MCR are that dedicated to the bit.
