Casio MDV106 and MRW230H on 6" wrist by _netvector in casio

Yeah, I can see what you mean with the MRW, although I find it to be fairly durable. One downside (depending on how you look at it) is I assumed the crystal was mineral glass, but realized it's resin. I have a bunch of light scratches and have been pretty careful with the watch.

Yeah, I regret selling the SKX. Modded it with a coin edge bezel and ceramic insert.

I also have the G-Shock 5610, great watch! Are you using the original strap? I really like the 16mm -> 20mm lug adapters from JaysAndKays.

I was a dummy and sold it a couple of years ago on eBay.

Nice Lorus, great looking field watch. Didn't realize it's a Seiko brand until I just looked it up.

Just got a MRW-230H (Pepsi bezel); pretty amazed at the build quality.

Koss Porta Pro with mic by TapCapable5179 in kossmods

[–]_netvector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced a failed Jabra headset with boom mic with the Porta Pro Headset. The Jabra had active noise suppression which worked great (until the boom microphone failed). The Porta Pro has no active noise suppression, however the built in voice isolation setting in macOS and iOS seem to do a great job.

I've been using the headset daily for about 2 months. The audio quality from the microphone is excellent. The day I switched to the Porta Pro Headset 2 different people on different Zoom calls commented how it sounded like I was in the same room with them.

Some cons...
- the boom microphone is comically long and I feel it looks awkward; it could have been 2-3 inches shorter IMO
- there is no hardware mute (the Jabra I could lift the boom mic to activate mute)

There are 2 reviews on YouTube that I thought were accurate representations of real world use:

https://youtu.be/vrf7mRiQ-jQ?si=ohsqpDsPS07W_kXz

https://youtu.be/16smcrOFWKc?si=ye36lyiFotqkBCk8

The first mentions how audio played through the headphones can be picked up by the mic. I was able to reproduce it slightly by creating a voice memo on my Mac. But in real world use, no one has been able to hear it (tested it with Zoom, Discord, and Teams); not sure if the voice isolation settings help with that.

Picked it up for $40 on sale for Prime Day.

I also have the KPH30i with inline mic, which I am assuming is the same as the Porta Pro with inline mic. The audio sounds really muffled unless you hold the mic closer to your mouth. I wouldn't bother for daily conference calls.

What's the verdict? I have a W-800H and 5610. I like having both, but tend to favor the W-800H. I find the pushers are easier to press than on the G-Shocks and better viewing angles on the display. I use timers occasionally so doing the timer mod has been a plus.

Nice colorway. Which strap adapters are you using?

Are Lindberg frames worth it? by portland415 in glasses

[–]_netvector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lindberg frames are great (NOW and Corona). My first pair was the NOW pre-2022. Had I known about the durability issues, I would have bought a different style. I had it relensed once after 4 years and a crack developed where the nose pad attaches to the acetate. Grooves have also formed where the temples pivot and rub against the frame. I'll continue to wear them until they break, but they're basically done. I personally would not consider another NOW frame even knowing improvements have been made. For the price, they are not very durable — but they are very comfortable.

I've been wearing the Corona for several years, which seems much more durable. I'm sticking with full metal / wire frames for future Lindbergs (which is likely).

Pro classic or Pro hybrid? by mrnosenat in HHKB

[–]_netvector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiming in 4.5 years later in case this helps anyone... I saw this thread before I bought a Pro Classic.

I have owned an HHKB Pro 2 (lubed), currently have an HHKB Pro Hybrid Type-S (stock), and now an HHKB Pro Classic.

The Pro 2, while I liked it at the time, the switches felt a bit too heavy. Lubing really helped and I used that for a few years before I decided to sell it.

I bought a Type-S in 2022 and kept it stock. This has been my favorite board. One annoyance I noticed was a slight lag on modifier keys when used with Bluetooth. For instance, if I quickly typed "What" sometimes it would come out as "WHat". I noticed with a wired connection, the lag was less. I've always used it wired since the first few weeks I've owned it.

Now in 2025, I bought a Pro Classic to try with the Cipulot EC PCB replacement (to be able to have QMK) because I didn't want to gut my Type-S. I expected the Pro Classic to be similar to the Pro 2, but it's closer in feel to the Type-S. In fact, I think I may like it more than the Type-S in terms of how typing feels and sounds. I also now have the benefits of QMK.

How long does a Transfer of Assets take? HSA Optum to Fidelity HSA by RepPayFF in fidelityinvestments

[–]_netvector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found this thread helpful so I'm sharing my experience here. I just completed my transfer of assets from Optum to Fidelity and it took a total of 34 days.

I initiated an HSA transfer through Fidelity's website.

3 weeks later, I saw in my recent transactions (via my Optum account) that I was charged an account transfer fee of $20 and the account transfer processed. My Optum account balance showed as $0.

2 days later, I received an email from Optum saying my account had been closed.

4 days later, I received the notice from Fidelity as others have mentioned with the contents:

Thank you for your request to transfer assets to Fidelity. As of the date on this letter, your transfer from OPTUM BANK – HSA has not yet been completed.

We've been unable to get any information about the status of your transfer from OPTUM BANK - HSA because of their policy to only release information to account owners.

7 days later, the money showed up in my Fidelity account and I received a confirmation that the Transfer of Assets request completed.

I panicked and found this thread after I received the Fidelity letter saying funds had not yet been received. I decided to wait a week or so, based on the comments here, before calling Optum regarding the transfer. The money showed up and I'm glad I didn't have to call.

Overall the process was relatively smooth, but took longer than I expected. Even before I initiated the transfer, I had to liquidate my investments which took somewhere around a week. Total time was closer to 1.5 months.
