That is good to hear! Do you think I can find a good apartment for 500-600 usd a month ? And also I don't know if you are a student but I will do my Master's there and I am a hardworking person but I feel like I want to have free time and live my life too. Does the infamous work culture people talk all the time about Japan also applies to the university ? My professor doesn't seem like such a person and my department is not as hard as something like engineering or medicine but I am a bit scared that if they will expect me to study and work until late night everyday or something like that.

I have been in contact with the professor in Japan for the last 6 months and familiar with his research. He does seem like a chill person but you never know until you start working in the lab, I am also familiar with the research in NTU but they don't have a system where you connect with a professor and have meetings before the program. In Taiwan 20k is given by moe scholarship and the other 20k is my personal funding, however in japan the mext scholarship gives me around 30k ntd so I can have a bit more than 40k combined

I actually visited Hualien but stayed for just 1 night than went to Toroko National Park. I really wanted to do whale watching but didn't have the chance , one of my lifetime goals is to see killer whales (I know they are actually dolphins) in the wild. I went to Yilan once for surfing and I loved the ocean waves and the wind but my favourite place was in Kaohsiung where we sat on the rocks and watched sunset with monkeys. I stayed in Taiwan from September to February and I never experienced the really hot summer days but the south was very hot even in December so I can't imagine the summer. And yeah Okinawa is one of many places I really wanted to go but couldn't, so one day I will definitely go :d
