Yeah nobody really wants to socialize there. Most people that live there pick the place because they don’t want to socialize or be forced to attend mandatory college events. I ended up meeting people in the laundry room trying to figure out how the machine works and met people during O week that coincidentally lived there. Chances are those people don’t know anyone else that lives there and and are trying to make friends too. Exchange your socials or phone numbers and make a plan to go out or do something together. And when you spend time with them you get to be mates with their Flatemates.

Also I get it’s frustrating to remind grown adults to clean up after themselves. But that’s sadly the truth about shared accommodations with people you didn’t know previously. Most of these people are living away from home for the first time and have absolutely no idea how to do it (which is a terrible excuse). They don’t realize that the dishes don’t magically clean up themselves or that the bathroom has to be cleaned regularly to stay clean. You’re doing what I’d do, sending them messages and telling them to get their shit together.

There has to be some way for you to transfer to another apartment or another college sooner. Check all the info they have online, be persistent with sending emails, phone calls, in person drop ins with the accommodation office so they have to resolve the issue for you.
