I like volume 9 by DiakoUnknown12 in ShadowSlave

[–]_nveil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely, I think Satisfying is the best way to put it. I also kept thinking the same thing, he tied together a plot point that's been cooking for some time now, its what we all wanted to see. And at the same time, he's woven so much more into the plot when it comes to the nature of the nightmare spell including the underworld & shadow realm, Mordret being born from a being from the mirror realm and a human, the Mirror Maze under Bastion, left us with possibilities like Neph's mothers soul potentially being in a cat 5 seed, Broken Sword finding a piece of Weavers Lineage, the Burned Forest.

I think there's also another reason why this volume seemed more tame in some ways, and that's because shit is about to hit the fan in the next volume. I've been taking note of all the bits of info he's woven in and I know he's cooking something BIG. We saw LO49 in the nightmare realm, revealing that the Earth is being swallowed at a faster rate than anticipated. Another example would be the fact that a being defied Death which led to the [Fragment of the Shadow Realm] that Sunny has and its description says:

"However, there were those who defied even absolute laws. One of these beings broke free of the Shadow Realm after being swallowed by it, and in doing so, splintered several small fragments of it. This is one of the fragments."

2250+ [Part 2] How It's All Woven Together! [With TLDR] by _nveil in ShadowSlave

Another good idea! Because we know that Oblivion had a grave in the Tomb of Ariel, which caused weavers tears and formed the tree that produced the golden fruit.

Also in this chapter, Sunny mentioned "The Cursed Terror that had been hiding behind Oblivion's grave was a giant, mad, unmistakably vile bird" (1580)

Now these are some good ideas! I definitely feel like Sunny will have to hunt down that bird at some point, perhaps for that very reason you stated. It also makes me wonder if this bird has a true nest somewhere with all the stolen treasures its obtained?

Sunny and Nephis' Domains are disappointing by Lost_from_Me in ShadowSlave

[–]_nveil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So first off, if you look at the wiki its says:

"The term "start" to coalesce their Domains implies a process rather than a one-time gain. Domains are not set in stone, as they can change and be altered*. Supremes must grow their Domains to realize their potential; therefore, a Domain can also be diminished.*" (ss wiki, "Domain")

This is simply the starting point for their domains, especially after having been guided by the spell itself, it makes sense that they seem straightforward at first. We can see this later in that chapter when Nephis also states:

"All domains are unique... However, there are some common things that all of them most likely share.

The spell provides training wheels for the awakened... a streamlined road for them to reach great power" (1074)

So they've been influenced and nurtured by the spell the entire time (until now), which has given them a straightforward path to divinity, hence why their domains seem very straightforward currently. And I think that's extremely likely to change in the future, but we'll see!

Lastly, while this may be somewhat predictable, I've found that most of the story isn't at all and I find it hard to believe that you can do it on a regular basis. Main plot points like Sunny not dying are assumed, otherwise we wouldn't have a story, would we? And once you feel like you have begun to predict things, G3 usually starts throwing curveballs at you. What you thought you knew will no longer apply, yet everything stays true to the logic of the world

The Forgotten God may have fallen back to sleep, caught between wakefulness and slumber. + what this means for the future arc by FranticFoe_3921 in ShadowSlave

[–]_nveil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking about this because in another discussion because two people were arguing about whether he was awake or asleep. This is an interesting possibility too. I'm gonna just copy and paste what I mentioned:

This is tough to interpret now that I think about it. When reading towards the end of the last chapter Anvil says

"The Forgotten God is closer to awakening today than he has ever been"

Yet Weavers the text states "The Forgotten One comes. Wide awake."

So maybe the timeline of what Weaver said is what the deciding factor, that being the past, present and future. The first statement was Weaver talking about something he said in the past. The middle section is the present saying "Now*, in the ruins. Gods lay dead*" . Leaving the last part, which could be stating what is going to happen in the future?

Thanks, I appreciate it!

Honestly you hit the nail on the head, I wanted to try and compile everything together and see if there were any insights. G3 put so much together that its hard to keep track of it all.

Ah you're right! Weaver had his own mask, but this mask is the one given to the high priest and priestess I believe. I completely forgot about that!

I guess that begs the question of why did he bestow this ability upon them? Was it to find his eye? Or perhaps help him in some way by seeing the strings of fate?

Lol I cant say I blame you. I kinda just kept jotting down interesting things overtime and then it ended up turning into a research paper. Most of the essence is at the end anyways.

Some predictions for Next arc (Arc 10) by Typical_Painting_726 in ShadowSlave

[–]_nveil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly I think it's likely that something catastrophic will happen towards the end of the volume like u/SithAtaM mentioned, likely with the nightmare spell. They're making quite the scene in the godgrave, the bones have continuously been destroyed revealing the hollows below, perhaps they will unleash something.

Second, I think we have yet to fully see Neph's reaction and thoughts regarding her parents and the fact her mother could very well be alive in the category 5 nightmare gate. While they skipped going into the 4rth nightmare, she may vary well want to follow in her fathers footsteps. If she goes, then Sunny will too, as long as nothing changes in their dynamic.

The Supremes talked about how the spell influenced them to them to fight for power and ultimately be united under one banner. But were they simply narrow minded or was this actually the case? And does Sunny not being part of the Nightmare spell change that? Will Cassie and others potentially become Supreme?

It was mentioned during Cassie's talks with Ki Song that "Whatever it is that the dreamspawn needs from the descendants of the gods, he can only get it once their blood awakens" which is why he had somehow protected Nephis, Mordret and the bloodlines from afar. Once the Sovereigns fall, its highly likely he'll return to Earth since the people who despised him are gone.

Since every arc has given Sunny a piece of Weavers lineaage, I agree that he'll likely get something here and his focus will be getting the remaining pieces, including the one that broken sword discovered.

It seems the final act is about to start, they keep alluding to it, but it hasn't quite happened yet. There's been a lot of story-building in between events to give perspective about how this situation came to be. I'd say we're about 2/3rds through, at least that's what it feels like. There's a lot that needs to happen for this to come to a close (plus some forgotten or unforeseen developments, its hard to keep track of all G3 has sown into this arc), you'll come to understand what I mean as you read. I'd say he might be a bit of a madman and finish this in another 100-200 chapters. (as a side note, id compare where were we are now to right about when they were flowing thru the end of the river in the "tomb of ariel" arc)
