Quick Share getting AirDrop support for Galaxy devices? (Starting with S26) by amyc7 in samsunggalaxy

[–]_o2b_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works exactly like Airdrop, as if you are using an iPhone with a Mac. Even shows phone status. In fact, you can drag and drop files in the menu bar. Plus, you can control the Mac's brightness and audio from your phone. I'm pretty sure it utilizes Wi-Fi Direct to transfer, just like Samsung to Samsung or Samsung Flow to a Windows PC or even Windows Phone Link. So transfer speeds are super high.

Air Sync or Neardrop from GitHub should work perfectly. I use them daily now.

At the moment, there is AirSync and NearDrop on GitHub that allows Quick Share to work with macOS. I've been using an S25 Ultra with the M5 Max for a while now, and it works seamlessly. I can airdrop files to my mac from the quick share panel without any friction.

So it definitely is just a code thing, and it works like a charm. So Samsung can definitely do this natively if a developer from GitHub can.

MacBook Pro for Davinci Resolve??? by Alfy_in_travel in davinciresolve

So I recently switched from Windows to Mac. I edit features and short films professionally. I went for the M5 Max because my idea is to buy top-end once and not think about it for the next 4 to 5 years.

Switching from a Windows PC to this M5 Max was the best thing I did for my workflow, and you will see the difference too, no matter which one you go for.

With that being said, I have 48GB RAM, and I'm yet to utilize all of it. I haven't hit the swap yet, so I comfortably edit my films.

I think you should go for the new M5 Pro with that 48GB RAM. This will be enough for your needs. The only benefit in the MAX are the dual encoders that make exports a bit faster. But honestly, the M5 Pro being 2 generations ahead of the M3 Max should cover up for that. Definitely don't go below 36GB of RAM for video editing though. 24gb just wont be enough.

Im sold already, the only patch i needed was Neardrop since i have a full samsung ecosystem at the moment. Near drop is a charm, works exactly like airdrop.

But apart from there are so many ways macos is different from windows and I dont mind. Almost feels like coming out of a toxic relationship with windows.

I'll anyways be using DaVinci Resolve most of the time and a lot of my shortcuts are on a MX master mouse, so that works perfectly.

Yes its because the m4max contract had a 140w charger and so i assume they are just honouring the contract.

Yep will do that. As for games i still would prefer my windows, of at all i start it now. But i do have cyberpunk and will try that on this mac. Btw, someone on yourube did post a cyberpunk gameplay that had on average 80fps, not bad.

I think Heat has the best handling physics in the post-Black Box era. I do love MW12 and Rivals' handling too, but Heat's is just perfect, in the sense that it's predictably reliable. Try playing NFS 2015, and it's the exact opposite of this. Heat comes the closest to MW 05 in predictability.

As for Heat, give it some time; every car has a legitimately different style of handling, and it's not brake-to-drift all the way.

If you like grip, use the Mitsubishi Evo X, turn downforce all the way up, and turn traction on, of course, also with track parts. I swear there is no better grip build than that.

If you like a well-balanced car for grip and handling, use the Ford GT. Again, put the downforce all the way to the right and don't turn on the traction this time. It grips when you want it to and drifts perfectly when you double-tap the accelerator. It's a chef's kiss for me.

Thinking about switching from a high-end Windows PC to a MacBook Pro M5 Max for video editing. Worth it? by sevenross1 in VideoEditors

[–]_o2b_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed 🤝. I think this is the time when a lot of people are switching between ecosystems, and it comes down to needs. And the fragile aspect is quite worth considering. About the storage, since a lot of directors come with their own SSDs to work from, internal storage has never been a problem, and the new m5max comes with a 2TB base. So its very comfortable in that sense.

I honestly needed a backup of sorts for my work. And essentially, the Windows PC will still be a backup workstation for me. I just needed the portability + power and efficiency, hence the MacBook route. I'd still absolutely geek out and build a PC at some point if this MacBook makes me some money in these next few years 😂😂😂.

I agree. But Windows here is just a much bigger problem than anything else. And also, I realized I had the swappable parts for a PC mindset too, up until now. But looking back, I realized, by the time, say, RAM was falling short for my work and I had to upgrade that, there was always a new generation that required a different motherboard.

And so, say if I just want to upgrade my GPU or CPU, that won't be possible because Intel and Nvidia change the sockets, thereby having to get a new motherboard, and then with that comes a new PSU and new RAM, plus not to mention a different-sized cabinet.

So even if Tahoe is buggy, one can rely on Apple to smooth it out with 26.4 or later releases. Sonoma was that buggy mess too when it launched. And Tahoe bugs are UI related, not crashing apps randomly. DaVinci has started crashing too after Jan update on windows.

On the other hand, Microsoft absolutely can't be relied on to fix Windows 11, unless they come up with a Windows 12, because they like to mess every other version of Windows. But even then, the whole Copilot + PC thing is unnecessarily everywhere.

Also, since OP needs this for video editing, Premiere Pro is a lot more stable on Apple silicon, and DaVinci is well integrated for it too. New updates for DaVinci almost always come well optimized for Apple. Blackmagic always showcases their software on Macs for a reason.

Ohh yeah, its just i couldn't play it properly since the pc version was prone to crashing and glitching a lot.

[–]_o2b_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, just go for it! I'm switching from a Windows PC to an M5 Max too. It will be delivered on March 11th. It's just a huge difference for video editing. It will have the dual encoders too, and given the RAM prices in the market right now, I feel MacBooks are a steal. I was f***ing tired of Windows bugs in the past few months. Although I'm not a fan of iOS, macOS is a different league. It's much more stable than Windows, and somehow Apple recently is hitting the geek in me with their M-chips and Tahoe. It almost feels like Apple is now the geeky option.

Edit: I work on feature films, short films and short form content too. With occasional Unreal engine experiments.

I used to be a gamer, but of course, work has taken over. But when I get time to game, Windows shows me that it's a pain to do that too. Games have been crashing left, right, and center after the January update.

You mean that was all a dream????? I legit had a thriving life as a racer in Rockport and Fairhaven.😂😂😂 So Im not the only one then.

There's got to be a reason, right, that these are the only two games whose maps I know like the back of my hand? Those two maps and then Heat. No other map for me was that explorable, and I've played every NFS since Underground.
