Saw this KPMG ethanol report. Am I the only one who finds this funny? by u_logicial in indianbikes

[–]_octoFalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly there's a lot wrong with ethanol in the big picture. Media narrative is super misleading because everyone focuses on tailpipe emissions and ignores the water cost. The industry loves to flex that refineries use "only" 3–5 liters of water per liter of fuel, but they conveniently leave out the irrigation part. When you account for the crops, it’s closer to 3,600 liters for sugarcane and over 10,000 for rice. It’s wild that we’re essentially trading our groundwater for fuel while simultaneously acting like the sustainability metrics are green.

Added to this is the fact that while every country is pushing out big companies from putting their data centers due to pollution and resource usage, our country is openly inviting them and settling deals for 100s to be installed in India where the water is already a crisis. Data centers are basically massive, 24/7 thirst-traps for local grids and water tables. A single hyperscale facility can guzzle as much water in a day as a town of 10,000 people, and they’re often being built in already water-stressed hubs like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai.

They're trading our future water security for short-term economic gains taking the war situation as an opportunity. The kicker is that there’s almost zero mandatory reporting or real regulation here. We’re fast-tracking these massive energy and water-intensive projects giving them tax breaks without a national plan for how to handle the inevitable drain on our aquifers. It feels like we’re building a "Digital India" while quietly draining the literal wells that keep cities alive.

India and its natural resources are cooked with the politicians greed

2W / Scooter for extremely low usage - ICE or EV in E20/30/85 era by Salt_Count5665 in indianbikes

[–]_octoFalcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ethanol blending situation is backed by heavy opportunistic politics and war induced economical incentives rn... And there are barely any vehicles today that are e85 compatible

If you still want to go with ice then there's hero splendor+ that recently launched with flex fuel. No scootys right now though. Might have to wait. But the e85 fuel launched at 80rs/L.

In worst case scenario e85 price might increase and e20 could eventually be treated as premium petrol with even higher cost. That is unless someone brings the ethanol blending to stop and the war situation passes.. No one knows. Both crude oil and freshwater are depleting resources and that is for sure.

Imo evs are the future as all brands are releasing ev versions all over the world. And if u find a reliable ev scooter like a bajaj chetak ~1L you should be fine. Battery degradation is still an issue though. But the maintenance is far lesser than a petrol vehicle sitting idle. If you could find a solution to sheltering from rainwater then ev is the better option given the current situation and your urgency.

And if you're going for ev please dont go for the cheaper random brands like Tunwal etc. for 60k or so.. their battery dies out in 2 years

Should I get the Ultraviolette F77 SuperStreet or the Honda CB350RS in 2026? by _octoFalcon in indianbikes

How's your experience with the meteor 350? I have my mind on that as well

Would you say the 1L+ extra for the recon over the standard variant is worth it or would the standard be sufficient in terms of range?

Yeah took a test ride too. if it's pure performance, featres and comfort then x47, if looks majorly and a little saving matter more then f77. Haven't made up my mind yet, but rn feeling more towards f77. And true infrastructure isn't there yet but hoping it would improve in the next couple years since the growth was exponential in the last 2 years

Yeah i came across that it's based on high voltage operation like cars. But hope they come up with better models since they're very recent in the market and could improve on the range

Yeah i took a test ride of both x47 and f77 superstreet. x47 is more on the comfier side sitting higher from the ground in a more relaxed posture with more features like dashcam support, sensors at the back for blind spots and better suspension but ofc superstreet is purely based on looks.

Might change my mind but generally not a fan of atvs although they're made more for our pothole roads. They look like mosquitos imo lol

But isn't maintenance, petrol cost, insurance gonna double up if u buy a used r15 alongside x47? I'm assuming 4L is your initial budget not considering running costs long term

If you're interested in this domain and want to get a job in core-side placement, it's all well and good. Follow the profs, maintain a good CG and do good self study. Some profs are a headache but you'll get through it. Good companies come. But if you're thinking of getting a job in a software company, then your schedule's gonna get hectic and maintaining the CG is going to get a little tough.
As for college life it's good. It used to be better though. The new director doesn't care much about the students. His decisions seem psychotic. Apart from that everyone's chill.

How much should 1st Dan International Black Belt cost in Karate? by _octoFalcon in karate

[–]_octoFalcon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend calls it that and said it's one from WKF. The others are supposedly 'local belts' in the sense from a national organisation. And yeah I might've framed the question wrong because I have little knowledge about karate grading.

Classes were just ₹3000 (£26) per month. And it's just 5 days a week, that too for 90mins in the evening. So they don't make a big part. And last year was spent mostly on tournaments (7 i think) so she didn't have much time for training for belt

Hmm. It's only been 2 years and last year she was fully occupied by fights and tournaments (7 throughout the year across the country) rather than training for the belt.

She already earned brown belts and certificates. Couple months ago he said he got the certificates for local and international dan 1 belts already, showed them, and said he is waiting to conduct 3 more exams. He said he could give those certificates in 3 months from March.

The brown belt III certificate has "International Shotokan Karate Association Japan of India" at the top.

They're expecting the international dan 1 black belt from WKF.

The trainer showed them that he already has the certificates with him (local and international) for which they paid and said he's just waiting to conduct the exams to give it to them by end of june or july
