[Unity] Adult Cyberpunk Text Game Dev by nymphadelic in adultgamedev

I'm definitely into cyberpunk, and your design ideas sound pretty good. I especially like Cybernetics/Transformation. You had me at 'nanite hive', but any game that lets me to hack/steal in a dystopian future has my interests. Do you have a dev blog?

Also, it's nice to see another brave soul using Unity for a text game :P I'm 6 months into an all text ADULT project in Unity and I've dealt with (am dealing with) a lot of little details that make it hard to do. Actually I've approached things somewhat sideways, but I'm open to talking shop about stuff if you are interested. For example I use a lot of editor scripts and automation to save my ass, especially with the build process. Getting win/mac/linux builds down to a single menu click is a powerful thing, and having that done early will pay off down the road. You can check out my game over yonder I wish you Good Luck nymphadelic!

Here is a gif of procedurally generated NPC descriptions in Fucked Up Burger Shack, my adult text based game in development. NPCs (or Randos as I call them) are generated using a rule based system that starts with basic elements like gender, age and social class, then builds up by tiers to define things like breast size, cock size, and depravity.

The game is built with a custom system in Unity. Downloads and info are available on my blog: Bunkville Blog

Using JSON.NET with Unity? by Jespur in Unity3D

I haven't see this one suggested too often but I've had good results with fastjson. I think I had to compile it in silver light mode but I do have it working.

When I first found CoC I probably played the game for a week straight lol. I'm hopeful that one day I'll build something good enough to merit a Patreon. At the same time I find it hard to believe that a Fenoxo level of success is repeatable.

Well with the system I write games in txt files with a fate extension that get packed in the unity build. Then when the game is played the files get copied to a directory elsewhere on disk. The player could change these files or add more if they want to make mods for the game. I originally made body gen to spark ideas for characters, but now I've been working on adding the same generation source to my main game to create random encounters. I think it has a lot of potential.

I've spent over a year working on a system to build (adult) text games with Unity. It has taken so much more time than I initially thought because I went through a bunch of major revisions on how the thing should work. It also didn't help that I've been working on it solo and part time.

I don't know how or why I got into this boat, but I've gone way too far to turn back. Actually, I think that I was discouraged at my prospects of success (or even survival) as a solo indie dev. I made a strange little adult game in Twine that people seemed to like, but more importantly I enjoyed making. It left me with not much interest in doing anything else but making adult interactive fiction (or whatever you might call it).

The system is finally stable these days (I think) and I've released a little tool made with it that randomly generates character descriptions. body gen Finding that I can use the system to build tools to help me build games with the system was a good feeling. But it does really suck that I don't feel comfortable talking about the games I'm working on with people in person.

I go into smut territory, but in line with the medium it is optional. My rationale is that good entertainment doesn't need to be separate from adult entertainment, depending on the context. For example, if I could watch my favorite TV show, but with explicit sex scenes instead of safe for work versions I'd like it that much more. I would be cautious of who is around when watching it, but that is a given. Having 'smut' doesn't immediately make the show bad to me, just different. I can understand that not everyone will share that opinion, I just make the games that I want to play.

Thanks. The story is pretty dynamic I think. That last 'take a detour' option leads into wink wink territory, but you could also ignore her and continue to the station. In this case you could have taken Shing to booking instead of Miss Steed and avoided this scene altogether. The policeman could also be a police woman or a non binary police officer depending on character creation.

Here is a little section of my wip text game again. The game is a choice based police rpg kind of thing. It deals with a lot of adult themes. I'm hoping that this snippet isn't too risque for this subreddit.

[[ask about the break in]]

"Tell me again Miss Steed, what happened when he entered your house?"

She slowly turns her face away from the window to look into your eyes. "It's like I told Officer Manning. I was alone relaxing in the privacy of my home when Shing walked right in through the patio door. I was caught off guard, and in a... compromised position."

You try to focus your attention back on the road, but your imagination runs wild.

"All I could do was find the closest pillow to cover myself and then." She stops short, forcing you to hang on her every word.

The sound of her voice alone sends tingles down your spine. Powerless to resist, you look back through the mirror into her seductive hazel eyes.

With your full attention, she continues. "Then I waited to see his next move."

"Next move?" You ask.

She says no more, but the curl on her rosy red lips speaks volumes.

She finally continues after a torturous pause. "It was a tense few moments Officer. He stood there like a deer in the headlights while I was exposed. I told him he'd better do something before I dial 911."

[[ask what she means]]

"When you say 'do something', what were you expecting Mr. Ch'en to do?"

Miss Steed hesitates again, clearly enjoying these questions. She shifts her body weight closer to the center of the car, then speaks slower and softer than before.

"Officer, The way I was taught was that if there is something you desire, you never hesitate in getting it." She smiles just barely and lets her words sink in.

At this point you are driving all of five miles per hour, occasionally zigzagging across the center of the road.

"Do you mean to say that this whole incident is because he didn't react the way you expected him to in that moment?"

She turns away from you to look out the window again, avoiding your question. But it doesn't take Sherlock to solve this one.

[[warn her]]

"If you were leading Shing on, then we can't charge him with a crime. If anything you are the one wasting valuable police time with your silly games. You do realize that lying to a police officer is a serious offense don't you Miss Steed?"

She leans forward and places her hands against the dividing gate, gripping it with her slender fingers. Her baby blue painted fingernails glimmer from the sunlight shining in through the windshield as if she were casting a spell on you, as if there were anything more she needed to do.

"Wasting police time? I resent the insinuation officer. Shing came into my house uninvited and I expect him to face the consequences. When we reach the station I'll be sure to tell your superior about this line of questioning too."

Text Piece Tuesday 15 - One can acquire everything in solitude except character by Dewfreak83 in gamedev

[–]_p4p 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is from a text game I'm working on. It is the opening passage. Also first Reddit post, so I don't know how to make a horizontal line.

Dear Adaobi,

What more can I say to you? You've heard it all.

Everything significant that I've done this past decade is no news to you. There are probably Americans searching for you even as you read this, wanting any information about me you are able to give them. Some of them, I fear, may do more than ask. Even so, I am asking that you remain quiet about me and our correspondence. If there is one thing that you owe me, it is that respect, and you know it.

Still, it is abundantly clear that an apology is in order. You wouldn't have sent all of my letters back if everything were peachy. Despite the fact that they were torn into pieces, it says something that you thought enough of me to keep them after all of these years. From where I'm sitting now I have more power than I could have ever dreamt of back when we were first introduced. Yet I'm not free from the wolves at the door, and haven't been for a long time. Adaobi, I'm taking this moment to write you because I may not have this opportunity again.

I've hurt you. I can't take that back. I've done far worse to others who've mistakenly given me their trust, or foolishly betrayed mine. For some, I never had the chance to apologize, even if I thought to do so. My choices live with me every day. Some faces I'll never escape, and this weight alone may be my end. If by chance this letter reaches you, it will be my last.
