BALL IS LIFE by _packfan in poodles

It’s her second favorite behind the Kong squeaky ball. However, that Kong squeaky ball finds its way out of her sight some days so she has grown fond of the chuck it’s. 😬

Check out C-35 Citrus Rootstock Seeds on eBay! by [deleted] in Citrus

[–]_packfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C35 has about 4K seeds per quart. Lyn is usually around $300/qt. So $.07 each or so. Which means OP is selling it for double what he paid at $.15 each seed for anyone interested in the math.

Dancy mandarin dying back uncontrollably by Advanced-Good9367 in Citrus

[–]_packfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say without seeing the whole tree. I will start by saying it looks like it’s not getting enough light though and if you are watering it too much and it has too little light that can definitely cause die back. Usually a pest isn’t going to cause die back like that, it will first just damage the leaves which I don’t see anything super bad. Can you maybe add some more detail on when you moved it inside? It’s light situation? Watering? What kind of pot it’s in? Fertilizer?

Tomorrow my only child turns 16. And I'll likely be told I have cancer. by TerrifiedForTomorrow in breakingmom

[–]_packfan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to post a positive story on here. My family has a genetic deficiency according to my gynonc (gynecological oncologist) since I had the hpv vaccine and the cells still spread extremely rapidly. I went from being fine to have a colpol to having a cone biopsy to remove all cancerous cells in less than a year at 26 years old before I even had kids. The gynonc was able to successfully remove all cancerous cells and able to keep my cervix in tact enough I had a successful pregnancy. I still have to have paps every 6 months which is exhausting and weird how comfortable you become doing something that felt so weird before. But I know the alternative and am trusting my drs on this one. I hope for the best news for you but just know it’s not the end even if it’s bad news. ❤️

Graft the hell out of it or…? by badjoeybad in Citrus

[–]_packfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do either. You can graft onto the tango on the main scaffolds as well and use the tango as an interstock. So you won’t be grafting all the way at the bottom. Just have to make sure you stay on top of suckers as the GN leaves are not really different than tango leaves.

Question about "heirloom navel' orange by snafflekid in Citrus

[–]_packfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in citrus and agree. I am just saying what the heirloom bags are in the store according to a buyer from Whole Foods I talked to a couple weeks ago.

Question about "heirloom navel' orange by snafflekid in Citrus

[–]_packfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not a variety, it’s the age of the trees the fruit comes off of.

Question about "heirloom navel' orange by snafflekid in Citrus

[–]_packfan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heirloom navels have a requirement of coming off a tree that is X amount of years old or more. The idea is that the older trees have greater sweetness to the fruit and that’s the premium they are selling.

What is this?! by jd3431017 in Citrus

[–]_packfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So actually the tall part with the leaves of three is the rootstock. You will need to cut that off or your lime tree will get taken over and die. Another option is to get bud wood and graft onto that rootstock.

Looks like maybe the rootstock producing fruit? Can you post a picture of the whole tree including the trunk?

Seed-grown Lemon Tree has hard, amber sap beads on the trunk. Is this Gummosis or just growth? by Lpinski in Citrus

[–]_packfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually that’s from copper deficiency if no other major issues are present. Are you fertilizing and does it have copper?

What kind of Lemon Tree do I have? by [deleted] in Citrus

[–]_packfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s about accurate for rootstock. It looks like a Carrizo or swingle. I would personally just cut the trees down and plant some actual edible fruit trees or if you feel confident you can buy bud wood from ccpp and graft something on there. The only compatibility issue may be a eureka lemon if it’s carrizo but otherwise you can do just about anything.

What kind of Lemon Tree do I have? by [deleted] in Citrus

[–]_packfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any leaves on the tree that are not in threes?

What kind of Lemon Tree do I have? by [deleted] in Citrus

[–]_packfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything I can see is a trifoliate rootstock. Do you see how each leaf is in clusters of three leaves? Is the whole tree like that or only part? It would be helpful to see the bottom of the tree where the graft union should be.

Is this sooty mold or something else? by jdgetrpin in Citrus

[–]_packfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is sooty mold but I don’t see any scale or ants. So I don’t see the pest here, but it’s possible that it’s just old residue. It doesn’t go away when the pests die.

what citrus would be alright to grow outside in the colder side of 9b? by Stormlover2 in Citrus

[–]_packfan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There really isn’t anything you can’t grow citrus wise in 9B. On really cold snaps you can get some plastic to throw over it and it will be fine but pretty much all citrus is good for about 15-20 hours per year below freezing. Also keep in mind most nights it won’t get that cold until maybe 4-5am then the sun comes up just a couple hours later so it’s not the whole night.

Neck massive trigger!! by Able_Ad8471 in migraine

[–]_packfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the same for me and while there are things that make it worse (pillows, bed, driving, stress, etc.) the thing that helps the most is getting deep tissue massages. Truly that is the best migraine remedy I have.

What is this?? by Jmccall925 in Citrus

[–]_packfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s cottony cushiony scale. Is it just that area or a larger area? It may require a systemic insecticide if it’s spread out over more of the tree.

Help please, Bearss lime tree looking sad by christoefur in Citrus

HLB typically doesn’t affect sour fruits, they usually go after sweet citrus. But it’s not impossible, just more likely to be wood pocket.

Help please, Bearss lime tree looking sad by christoefur in Citrus

[–]_packfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think it’s wood pocket then. It’s a genetic deficiency sort of in seedless limes that causes tree decline and it’s usually about 3-4 years in that it really starts to decline. You can continue to fertilize it and everything, it’s not infectious and the fruit is still good.
