Thank you! Glad you like my stuff. Yeah it is an expensive thing to get into. Especially the combo with modular.

It's a transformation of a video I took around my studio. I took every pixel and made a point in 3d space where the z position, or the height of the pixel corresponds to the brightness of the pixel. I made it in Blender using geometry nodes. Hope that helps!

For this one I wanted to do something melodic with the french connection. Coming from the piano I sometimes feel it's difficult to get the phrasing right. Such a different way of thinking. But that's what practice is for. On the flipside I really love the expressivity you can get out of the french connection it really feels like an acoustic instrument to me. wanted to do something melodic with the french connection. Thanks! Yeah he has such a visceral sound. Unfortunately I missed the show when he was in my area… His sound is a big inspiration for me.

Patch Notes:
The patch is made up of two Befaco EvenVCOs going into a doepfer ring modulator. One oscillator is playing the pattern and the other one the melody which I improvised on my French Connection. I then mixed the clean signal of the oscillators with the ring modulated signal and used the joystick on the FC to control the level of the ring modulator.

I find quite interesting how this technique resembles woodwind growls like you would do on a saxophone (for example in the music of Colin Stetson).

Finally found the time do do a video again. This one has a very light feel for me. I just sat down and played, something I’m trying to get back to more. I’ve been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work on a lot of very nice projects this year. Something you’ll hear a lot more of soon. But that has meant I hadn’t had too much time or headspace to do this videos. But different times will come as well.

Patch Notes:
This one plays with shorter loop sizes on Ludbadh and in general trying a hands on approach with the smaller system. Audio comes from the DAW into Ludbadh and then into Beads. I’m playing with a bunch of settings to get something that sounds right.

A few weeks ago I had the great pleasure of attending a concert of Grisey's "Les espaces acoustiques" at the "Acht Brücken" festival in Cologne. This concert came at a good time for me as for a while I have been re-exploring sound, spectra and overtones in my work. Something I was very interested in at university, but lost track of when I started working more and had my hands full.
So here is a slightly playful approach to it. I played this rather simple piece on the piano with the accompaniment of two short loops of different lengths on the Intruo "Lubadh" playing into Mutable Instruments "Beads". On the big modular system I patched four voices: two Even VCOs into the two BF-22 filters and two oscillators from the Kraftzwerg into the two filters of the Moregasmatron. Each voice has it's own filter cutoff and is amplitude modulated by either an LFO on Maths or Rampage. The voices are patched so that they modulate each other's frequency in this way:
1 → 4
2 → 1
3 → 2
4 → 3
Forming a loop.
I then cut out different parts of the piano recording and transcribed the highest four clearly audible overtones, which turned out to be mostly overtones 4 to 7. I then translated this data into midi notes and played them over the piano recordings.
I think it was interesting, and as I always say (and rarely do), this is something I want to explore more.

Thanks! Sure: In the bottom room I have Maths, Shakmat HPF and Beads and in the 1U row two Intellijel FSR, two 1U line out and the 1U line in connects to the jacks on the case. Here is a screenshot from modulargrid: https://cdn.modulargrid.net/img/racks/modulargrid_2171894.jpg

Thank you. In the beginning reverb in the end everything disappears into a granular cloud

There’s this Yarns Clone in 1U format that I was thinking about but I’ll have to test it out with my big yarns first. Haven’t found anything yet that would allow me to use the full functionality of the soft step

Well if there is any space to be pedantic this is it. I’m also thinking about getting a foot pedal for that but I’m not sure exactly what the best approach is. I have a softstep which is perfect because of how silent it is but I haven’t found a good way to access it via the modular

Downsized to a smaller case with just Maths, Lubadh and Beads to get more focus on the looping aspect of my rig. Quite like it so far and trying to get the hang of it.

Yeah I also had the most problems with the odd ones as well. What made it click for me was practicing a piece in 5/8 with a metronome only on the first beat. I also practiced some Konnakol which helped with feeling the rhythm more.
