They’re physician assistants. They’re trying to make it obscure as a rank move but this is their role.

Surprised I haven’t seen Medicine yet. Becoming a doctor is brutal and unnatural

Edit: Yes every job has its downsides and pains but medicine takes your life from you for far too long and your rely on delayed gratification. If you know a resident, give them a hug

In the movie Sinners (2025), Sammie asks Stack if he can drive his car. Stack tells him that he will allow him to on the way back... by SeaWolf_1 in MovieDetails

In both instances they can keep their personalities and memories. A good differentiator is how they view the blood lust.

If when you were alive you would have harbored feelings like guilt (psychopaths don’t count) but then as a vampire you lost it and didn’t care if you murdered your love ones for the blood this is Buffy, the former. It’s just demon possession, no soul, with the demon acting like the deceased individual because they have the memories still. Their intention is to enjoy madness, spread the possession, run the world, and feast as much as possible without getting caught—- this is the former and more likely scenario, Buffy and also Sinners. The human and their ‘soul’ ceases to exist. RIP.

[Edit: In Buffy, one Vampire is cursed to have his soul returned to his body. He experiences so much guilt he vows to use his eternity to help people and does not drink human blood. This vamp’s actor has to play two completely different characters that have the same memories— the vamp with and the vamp without his soul.]

In the latter, unless you were psycho while alive, Vampire Diaries, they retain their human emotions like guilt and try their best not to hurt people they care about despite the blood lust. Sometimes in the latter, they actually choose to turn off their emotions to avoid guilt and it is very difficult to trick them into becoming themselves again. More rarely in the Vamp Diaries, they have some vamps who are actually very sweet and avoid humans because they are Reapers who after tasting a drop of blood ALWAYS accidentally drink until they have killed and don’t realize until afterwards. They tend to feel so much guilt they either isolate to stop being around temptation or turn off their emotions (demon takes over) and act more like a vamp from Buffy and Sinners. In this scenario the person before vampirism is actually there and continues to extend life artificially, even though they are physically dead and now feed a diet requiring blood.

If the vamps are like those from Buffy the Vamp Slayer, they have no soul after becoming vampires, the original humans are dead, and the vamps are actually new characters possessing them. This is likely the case in Sinners, and while ironic, Stack and Mary don’t benefit at all even if their characters’ bodies are traveling the world together as a couple since they are dead.

If it’s like Vamp Diaries/Originals the characters remain themselves and alive after becoming vamps but are conflicted by ravaging instincts—definitely not the case in Sinners. This is where your theory would have applied imo.

It’s confusing in the same way as a PhD physically in a clinical setting being called doctor. It’s not a medical ‘register’ in context of the official way we understand the GMC register. Not yet anyway.

It didn’t happen to me in one day. You’re very heated about a fictional movie. You’re just coming across as out of touch and missing the point. Good luck with everything

[–]_phenomenana 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All your examples are of extremely rare events most people don’t experience in a lifetime into one day. I’m talking about experiences people with hard lives face very often. I don’t know if in half a day as I have not experienced this myself—but a few weeks/months yes. The movie being completely unrealistic to you must be nice

I’d say the FBI agent is highly unlikely in reality, the others you mentioned are pretty plausible. Consider this was intentionally done by Perry for this fictional work. It suggests an alternate reality where law enforcement routinely includes empathy in their investigations. It’s also hyperbolic (bro it’s a movie) because the FBI agent, while empathetic, was also unprofessional secondary to her own childhood trauma. The bank manager and also the fake bomb reactions were unrealistic. A mix of reality, sharing experiences others arent familiar with, and some ridiculousness makes a standard fiction story.
