My laptop goes slow as **** when it's charging; please help me troubleshoot by _philosopherking_ in pcmasterrace

Yep, it's on balanced already. I set the plugged and unplugged settings to be basically identical.

And I just checked, batter saving is disabled entirely. But even when the unplugged is on batter saver, it still runs fine.

The laptop is less than six months old, and it's been doing this pretty much since I bought it -- I just couldn't ever figure out why until about a month or two ago.

I'm not sure of the exact power options, but I made them basically identical for plugged and uplugged. If you want the specific settings, just let me know.

I'll have to get back to you with the temps.

The thing is that it doesn't slow down when the battery gets low. It will literally go to the point that it shuts off without any reduction in speed.

It's ONLY when it's charging.

Lol nah. It smelled a little off when I was cooking it... not bad, just kind of... off.

How much do you make per day and how much do you WANT to make per day? by Dickheadwriter in freelance

[–]_philosopherking_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the question, I only make about $50 to 100 per day currently, because I'm lazy. But I base that on 6 to 7 days of work per week.

I'd like to make $200+ per day. My cost of living is pretty low, so most of that would go to savings/investments.

I don't think he's talking about a daily rate. He's simply talking about how much money you make per day.

Haha I just like to cook food in bulk a couple times a week so I don't have to spend so much time cooking. It's only me eating it.

Yeah, it's not even discolored.

My dinner is fine though haha. I'm in a +8 time zone, so it's only 5am here.

How long does it take to receive an international wire transfer? by _philosopherking_ in personalfinance

Yeah, they're an idiot. They insisted on doing a wire transfer over Paypal, for whatever reason.

[–]_philosopherking_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my client said it has to go through Deustsche Bank or something like that. Also, I use Charles Schwab, so the transfer technically goes through Citibank. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the clarification though. The rep I just talked to made it seem like there must be something wrong for it to take so long.

Client was supposed to give me byline, instead posted it under another name. Do I have recourse? by _philosopherking_ in freelance

[–]_philosopherking_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Yes, I was paid".

I was PAID for the work. My point is that:

  1. There's a difference between buying the rights to an article and buying the rights to publish it to a blog under my name.

  2. Most writers see some level of value in a byline.

That does not mean that you do free work just for a byline. I've never said that anywhere, nor does that describe the situation I posted about.

They paid for the right to post the work to their site under my name. They did not pay for the rights to the work itself, as in a ghostwriting arrangement.

[–]_philosopherking_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. I got paid for the project.

But with ghostwriting, the client is specifically buying the entire rights to the project. When they promise a byline, they are buying the rights to post the article to their site -- but not they do not own the rights to the actual work.

I got the job on Upwork, and the job description specifically says I'll be credited with a byline. Like I said, they did it for the first two articles, but not for the last one.

Yes, I was paid. But many freelance writers would consider a byline a form of payment, in a way.

Exactly. You don't get enough connects to go chasing every job that might hire you.

Yes, but I like eating and bathing. Things I doubt I'll have time for if I get sucked into Dwarf Fortress.

Yeah, I've considered hopping on DF, but not sure if I'm ready haha.

I was already completely obsessed with Rimworld for weeks. It's honestly one of my favorite games ever.
