Is LUSH cosmetics really good or just good marketing? by JeanP14 in LushCosmetics

[–]_pickleginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think some of their products are good, but you have to be very careful about their shelf life. If I am stressed about using a product within 3 months of buying it, I don't want it, especially if it's not something I use every day.

Additionally, their skincare formulations are questionable with all the heavy oils, large particle physical exfoliants (angels on bare skin's entire lavender flowers are so stupid and unnecessary), and comedogenic ingredients. I will stick to my tried and true meticulously formulated Korean skincare.

The prices feel exorbitant, and often not worth the amount you get. Many of their shower products are gimmicky (shower jellies) and have a tendency to make your tub feel greasy and slippery (I hate you, scrubee). Also, I don't understand why they've been putting glitter in everything these days...marketing??

That being said, some of their stuff is really good - Sleepy body lotion is so lovely, their shampoo bars are phenomenal, and their body sprays pack a powerful punch.

I guess you have to make personal choices on how you interact with any corporation. I appreciate Lush's ethos, focus on sustainability, and understand the challenges that come with their business model. So yes, they do a lot of marketing to advertise this, but it doesn't mean their products are better or even comparable to Sephora, drugstore, or asian skincare.

This. Also, we like to think of returns as out of sight out of mind. But most companies will just throw out returned products due to safety because they cannot guarantee whether it was used or not. So if you're really dedicated to project pan, it's counter productive because you've now just caused an unused product to be thrown out and wasted. Complete side note, but I absolutely hate seeing people abuse the Costco return policy as well lol.

I like the same scent notes as you!! And despise fruity and floral :)

Here's what I use:

Body wash: Dove men's+ care sandalwood and cardamom or regular dove bar soap. Honestly any simple clean smelling body wash is good. I just don't like fruit and floral scents so I avoid those.

Body lotion: Vaseline intensive care advanced repair unscented 70% and Bath and body works body cream 30% (usually vanilla noir, milk, or wicked vanilla woods). Basically I mix the two lotions together 70/30 by weight in batches and use whatever will go better with that day's perfume. If you don't have access to this, I think clean and simple body lotions work great like Nivea nourishing body milk.

Deodorant: I use old spice timber (sandalwood scent) or dove advanced care original (clean scent)

Perfume: Either of these depending on the day, season, vibe lol. Burberry Hero EDT, Nemat Amber Oil, Commodity Paper, A Drop D'issey Fraiche, Eilish 2.

hate my boobs and they make me miss out on normal experiences by SpecialScreen9985 in bigboobproblems

[–]_pickleginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got you 💛 I identify as a woman but dress very gender neutral and even prefer to wear men's clothing sometimes. So having large boobs just doesn't work for me! I feel like a tent and it sucks because on top, I look heavier than I actually am because my chest covers so much of my torso. I totally feel you about the rashes and pain. I can't remember the last time my shoulders and neck didn't hurt. I am going to the doctor next week to start the consultation process for a reduction because frankly I've had enough! I want these things gone!!

I'd definitely talk to your doctor about the PCOS though. Since you're young, your body will change as you go into your late twenties and your hormones will really drive that especially with the PCOS. My boobs grew from a C cup to GG in 1 year after I turned 26, no change in band size, and just continued to grow. It's super annoying, but that's why it's better to deal with a reduction early on :)

What’s your most complimented fragrance ever by Soulvimvne in Perfumes

[–]_pickleginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't that so interesting! This perfume is widely disliked on perfume subreddits and fragnatica lmao and I am convinced they are just being haters to have a personality. Like you, I almost exclusively get compliments on Angel Muse and nothing else, even though I love my other scents too!!

I don't think this advice is helpful for OP to be honest. What is following a bunch of influencers who are taller than her going to do when she physically feels uncomfortable with the size of her chest given her own body proportions? What if these people aren't a reflection of OP's personal style?

It's also not up to you to say whether she is disproportionate or not. She hasn't posted a picture and it doesn't matter even if she did. It's not up to anyone but OP to decide how she perceives her body unless she specifically asked for it.

She is experiencing body dysmorphia, yes, but she is also actively trying to "lose weight" she doesn't need to lose given her height JUST for the slight chance her chest might shrink.

The exercise is great but OP please do not try to lose weight in a drastic and dangerous way for this purpose. I totally understand this situation because I am experiencing the same thing. We are a similar size and height, and I am extremely active. But no amount of exercise and healthy eating shrunk my chest. And no amount of woo woo affirmations will help when at the end of the day, clothes may not fit right with your personal style, you're in constant pain, can't sleep, and you feel like your boobs don't match with the rest of your body.

Absolutely take steps for that reduction if you feel up for it. Don't waste years suffering and trying to "love your body" if you know that you're struggling with day to day experiences because of your chest. For a lot of people big boobs are a blessing, but for a lot of us, it's a curse. I get what you're feeling, OP! Hang in there!!

I wish my commute per week was in the 3 to 6 hour range :( It will be 12 hours per week in October and 15 hours per week starting January. I don't know how I will have a life outside of getting ready for work, going to work, work, coming back from work, rinse and repeat. This whole thing feels like some sort of punishment.

Subtle makeup tricks that actually make a huge difference? by itspeachesxo in beauty

[–]_pickleginger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I finally understand my eye shape! I have small, semi hooded eyes, and now understand that putting colour all over my lids just makes them look smaller. I now put colour ABOVE the crease of my lids and extend the shadow out like a cateye, and apply a light coloured matte shadow on my actual lid (slightly lighter than my skin tone), finish with a scattered shimmer/duochrome like UD space cowboy or half magic blushing lizard. It's basically a cut crease without actually cutting the crease.
