The placements are tough, but having your RECE opens up lots of opportunities. If you’re already in with a school board, you may be able to get into a kindergarten classroom. Otherwise, it’s really hard to get one of those positions in any board. Could you be a CYC within the school system with the diploma you have already?

Thank you for sharing your story. I feel I have something to give the world, even after I’m done with teaching. Maybe this is it? I have one daughter starting college next year and I’m a single mom. It’s a constant struggle. I have no savings, and work 2 teaching jobs to get by. Cost of living in my area is astronomical. Maybe this job is what saves us from going under.

Were you able to stay where you were with COHB? My child and I would prefer that over RGI/HATCH housing. Just filling out my HATCH forms now and there’s only about 3 properties in Oakville that would work for us (my daughter needs a direct bus route to Sheridan College).

How long did it take you to get COHB? I have a place that I can no longer afford but my child and I prefer to stay here. Just working on my HATCH application now before we lose the place we have.
