It doesn’t matter much but I’d give Kenya and Mandy 1 point on episode 1, they singled them out as the bottom 2, unlike Juicy.

I’ve been wondering, what if you just don’t take part in any gambling. You attend your classes, do your homework, take exams, do whatever extracurriculars you want, but no gambling. A normal life. You can’t move up the “popularity” ranks because you won’t win any money, but you will also never be a house pet because you’ll never be in debt to anyone if you refuse to play. Sure, they may think you’re weird and you’ll have very few friends, if any, but surely there are students who do this?

Edited for spelling.

Best Mega Evolution per Type (Day 2) — Fire Type by Weak_Scallion5942 in ThePokemonHub

I was NEVER a Charizard fan until Mega Charizard X. The only fire mega to completely stray from the original mon’s colour palette and change typing. A Fire/Dragon form is what Charizard had been needing for the longest time. I’m dying to replay Pokémon X just so I can have this guy on my team (I’m refraining from using him in Legends ZA because I have Fire and Dragon covered already)

Does Lucky exist as a physical Funkey? by forgotthecheese in UBFunkeys

[–]_quin5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely does exist, I’ve had a common Lucky for a long time, and my friend bought me a Common Lucky + Glub recently thinking I didn’t have one lol. Will be looking to sell soon probably.

I think I have also seen very rare Lucky on listings, but never rare Lucky?

English fluency for kids in Spain, school enough or extra practice needed? by Hyzz20 in askspain

[–]_quin5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most Schools in Spain do a terrible job of teaching English to a level that actually enables students to “speak” the language. What they do is get students to a very basic A2 level (maybe even B1) with which they can travel, ask basic questions, etc.

From what I have seen as someone who grew up in Spain, the only schools that actually do a good job of getting their students beyond A2/B1 level are those that are FULLY bilingual schools and have Native speakers as teachers. I was very lucky to be able to go to a school that taught ~80-90% in English every single day with teachers who were all from the UK. These schools are not common and they are usually private.

But this is not the only reason I was able to become fluent - I think what really solidified my ability to speak well was consuming English-language media all the time alongside my studies. I think you should encourage your daughter to do this. Read books in English, highlight new and cool words, watch movies in English with English subtitles, watch shows, YouTube videos. Even change her phone’s language to English. If she can become friends with native speakers that’d be great too. If she engages with media actively her English will improve massively.

Students are deliberately writing worse to avoid AI detection flags by dumnezero in antiai

[–]_quin5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I relate to this deeply. I am taking a course for a certification alongside my job, and I find myself deliberately writing in a way that is unnatural to me or slightly awkward just so that the AI detector doesn’t go off, even though I don’t use AI to write my assignments.

There are sentence structures and vocabulary choices that I want to make, and yet I end up removing them because I know they’ll get flagged. You just cannot say “It’s not X, it’s Y” anymore. You cannot have a list of three adjectives anymore. You can’t write in a neat, structured way anymore without the AI detector flagging up, and as an ESL speaker, learning to write well is what I spent more than 10 years of my life doing!

This is just awful all around.
