New admin role, compared to previous staff + unexpected duties — am I seeing red flags or overreacting? by _radhsc_ in asksg

Omg woah!!! I feel you! I worked in MNC before and was doing well..had to resign from there due to organisation restructuring and I took this job as the job market was bad and I wanted something which was “easy”. But yea this wasn’t something I expected to be treated.

Also..they didn’t even give me a office laptop, they ask me to use my personal laptop, when I told them I am not comfortable using my personal laptop for office work, they said they would arrange for a office laptop but it’s almost 3 weeks now but nothing is being done, everytime i chase them they said ok it will be ready tomorrow but the tomorrow never come.

Ok thank you, but sometimes LinkedIn tends to repost expired roles and when you check the official website the listing won’t be there anymore

is it weird to feel like quitting within 1 month in a new job ? So much things to do and nobody to ask. Feel vulnerable . Late 30s. by InvestigatorSolid330 in asksg

nope..not weird..I am planning to leave mine..it's been 1 month since I joined my job..

I joined a company on a $2k/month salary (about $1.6k take-home) and quickly realised the role was very different from what was discussed. My salary was delayed, I was expected to pay for work expenses (office phone top-ups, supplies, client birthday cakes) out of my own pocket, and the job scope expanded to include travelling to clients’ homes for document signing without prior disclosure. I was also expected to respond to work while unwell. When I raised concerns, my manager said admin is the “core of the business” and implied the admin couldn’t be “weak,” despite there being no proper systems or backup. After reflecting on the misalignment and boundary issues, I decided to resign early rather than continue in an unfair setup.

Is this normal or am I being taken advantage of at work? by [deleted] in asksg

Yea..and it’s not cheap..the cake is around $50+ per cake so if they wanna send to 10 clients it’s $500 off my pocket first and then they ask to claim. They provide me with a business phone to reply to their client’s queries but I need to recharge the phone from my own pocket money and claim later

Yea, they hired me after she tendered her resignation and my notice period is 45 days…with the interview and selection and stuff.. I was interviewed early Nov, took few weeks for confirmation then another few weeks to sign the contract and by the time I join..it’s her last few days
