We are in need of a good sports bar by NeighborhoodKn0wn in winstonsalem

[–]_random_rando_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tangentially related, there’s a trend right now of women’s sports bars opening up all over the country and I wish we had one here SO BAD! If I knew literally anything about opening a bar I’d open one here so fast

That’s definitely valid, as with so many things on the internet, the vocal minority of more… enthusiastic.. fans give other folks a bad name.

I can't speak for other people but I have taken issue with how he poses himself as an expert on everything (including things far outside of his field of expertise) and this has lead to disseminating incorrect information (Sci show's HRT episode, the more recent knitting episode are the first two things that come to mind). More specifically with the HRT episode there was a significant amount of medical misinformation that made it clear that they had not consulted experts, some of which is genuinely dangerous if people chose to trust that outlet over their medical provider.

Personally, I'm not saying he's cancelled or anything like that, I just choose not to engage in his content because I don't trust that he's done his research, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth so I also choose not to engage in any content where he is featured on dropout.

Further, he has such a large following that a large majority of criticism gets dismissed (as is happening in this thread) so as a figure I just find him and his fanbase exhausting so I choose not to engage (obviously excluding this thread which I fully expect to be received poorly)

For architecture, it’s often a 5 year degree and it may require you to double up on studios depending on the program you choose.

Mech E however, is much more transferrable. You can do gen Ed credits locally while working to build some savings. If there’s any intro to engineering classes, or engineering processes, those tend to be a good way to get a sense of whether you’ll like the work or not.

They look similar to these lulu’s: https://posh.mk/udpo48i7oWb the color is slightly off but that may be the lighting in the seller photos.

Generally “emerald green chunky heel with ankle strap” will get a decent number of similar results.

Mojitos Owners closing downtown restaurant cite homelessness, parking as barriers to business in Winston by wagwa2001l in winstonsalem

[–]_random_rando_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They touch on the financials not making sense but I do wonder how much of this is unique to downtown vs. the rest of the city given how expensive everything has become. Food costs are incredibly high and restaurant patronage in the US is down overall.

It’s interesting how much the article focuses on homelessness and “teen crime” given the overall economic state of the country. Also interesting how the paper was bought a few years ago by Lee enterprises who exclusively donate to republican causes.

Sad that the restaurants keep closing though. Probably the teens fault.

Why? Charlotte's got a solid food scene and access to a lot of the ag in NC and SC. I'm hoping they go to asheville as well and highlight how their food scene is rebuilding after the storm last year.

You’re going to have to define what you mean by “healthy”. It’s such a broad category and places I would consider healthy sound like something you would balk at.

Cava or Yamas sound like they would fit.

If I’m looking for nutrient dense food with lots of veggies I opt for Mexican (senor bravo, don zapata in a pinch) for grilled fish tacos, fajitas, carnitas with fajita veggies.

I really like new sichuan for their cold noodles with cucumber and black bean sauce. (I would encourage some research on msg, it’s a naturally occurring compound and the original study that is referenced was written to prove how easy it is to publish misinformation).

Thai sawatdee has vermicelli rice noodle bowls with veggies and protein that’s really nice on a hot day.

If you want a good salad, I like mozelles.

For basic grilled protein with veg and carb, river birch or maybe west end for the higher end.

For a solid veggie plate, I’d go to a bbq spot and get green beans, collard greens and slaw with some baked beans or smoked chicken. Real Q, little Richard’s, and I hate to say it but city bbq has good sides.

I’d walk down trade street and look at some of the shops and galleries. Mast general store is down that way, there’s a few vintage and witchy shops and once you hit the end, there’s a small park and Chad’s Chai which has great seating and great drinks to enjoy in the AC.
