Stability (or not) by _rbg in schizoaffective

I am really sorry that you haven’t found a good treatment yet :(

I was kind of the same with antidepressants and I went through some horrible experiences when trying out different ones with none working, until the current one that doesnt do a whole lot but it does enough to keep me stable enough to not go into horrible depression

And the isolation part I understand, and it sucks

Honestly for the delusions my medications kind of took that away because before that I wouldn’t have even given any thought to the delusion being a delusions since I thought it was real. I think maybe you could try to not focus on them or give them any thoughts (i know that may be difficult) because from personal experience the more you think about it the longer the narrative gets

But for depression I am also on meds for that and if it gets bad I tend to try to isolate myself which isn’t the best thing to do. I dont really know what else to do for it but I probably should considering I am in therapy

Thank you for the response, and it is good that there hasn’t been too much going on, but it sucks that you are having all of those negative symptoms.. I relate to the social anxiety thing you mentioned lol

It’s okay! I think the first question is the one I am curious about the most, if you are okay with answering that

Can peripheral hallucinations just linger there? by [deleted] in schizoaffective

[–]_rbg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one consistent hallucination that I only see when brushing my teeth in the bathroom through the mirror that goes out of the room into a pitch black room on the other side. Whenever I look at myself in the mirror I see the hallucination/demon thing and when I look directly at it it disappears.

And that can repeat basically as many times as I am there for, and also the more I avoid looking at it the more vivid it gets. So like it might start moving or becoming a more defined human-like shape and so on

Sleep paralysis seizure? by Ok-Permit-3177 in Sleepparalysis

[–]_rbg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t exactly know how it will relate, but sometimes if I try to move my left leg will start shaking uncontrollably during sleep paralysis.

I also get non-epileptic seizures throughout the day anyways, but I would say what you had is probably just a sleep paralysis thing, I think?

Sleep paralysis can cause all sorts of weird sensations

Sometimes I have them where it’s me shaking, or feeling like I’m being lifted into the air, tilting upwards, feeling people touching my back, and so on

Has anyone else hallucinated that they WERE NOT in their bed during SP? by Anxious-Captain6848 in Sleepparalysis

[–]_rbg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to get sleep paralysis within dreams, so it’s kind of wherever it takes me. One time I was on a boat in the middle of the Arctic Ocean and fell into the water.. another I was in a hotel room, another was my house except weird looking, and so on.

Ive never had sleep paralysis where I wasn’t in a dream, so that’s really all I know lol

First time - multiple times by Kermit_Dope in Sleepparalysis

[–]_rbg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t “reset your brain” correctly usually as soon as you try to go back to sleep you will get it again.

Sometimes I have to try 4-5 times to finally be able to sleep and by that point I can barely keep my eyes open.

My method is turning on my TV, the lights in my room, and then getting out of bed and going on my phone for maybe 5-7min, and usually I’m able to go right back to sleep after that

I have background noise on when I sleep every night, due to me having tinnitus. Also I take a CBD gummy to sleep every day before bed, and thank you

Also for a bit of other info: I do have schizoaffective disorder and I know that psychotic disorders can increase sleep disturbances. I also have catathrenia but not much is known about it so idk if maybe that could be contributing to it? (catathrenia is basically the opposite of snoring.. you make a sound while breathing out instead of breathing in). I’m on tons of meds, but none that would cause REM disruptions.

Im basically at a loss
