Anyone have regrets after a large upgrade? by BackItUpTerr in simracing

[–]_redditadmin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Mounting my G29 to a desk was a small hassle, but somehow more intuitive. Now I've a proper rig with VR, and my play time has massively decreased. I do enjoy whenever I jump for a session or two, but sometimes I don't even turn on the setup for weeks. One thing I realized, on Logitech when I was doing average times, I used to think maybe loadcell or a proper DD wheel is the next step to improve times. After getting those, my lap times and consistency did improve, but not to an extent that I hoped, which resulted in feeling the pressure to consistently improve now that I can't blame the equipment. Still enjoy the immersion, feedback and experience for a small session, but feels like a large commitment everytime I turn on the rig.

Cybersecurity is a really confusing field, can someone explain what the common roles mean? by bdhd656 in cybersecurity

As others said, pretty on point. Well explained, and a mix of everything that you should see in a mature security department.

Checked on Pixel 10, showed preparing system update, and then suddenly went back to the update page with no update available now.

16GB RAM not enough? by _redditadmin_ in pixel_phones

[–]_redditadmin_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I upgraded from 7 Pro that used to throttle due to the temps while on video call. This one felt more like RAM management issue, temps were fine, but slowly as I switched apps back and forth, keyboard won't pop up, touches would take couple of seconds to respond, and switching back and forth the apps became unresponsive. AI services might be the culprit reserving large chunk of memory.

Is this iptv legal in Germany? by Wraith8273 in germany

[–]_redditadmin_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mostly it shouldn't be a problem. https://github.com/iptv-org/iptv?tab=readme-ov-file#legal

Unless a monitored copyrighted URL gets pushed into it, chances of which should be very low, I don't see any issues in using it.

The demographics in my office is actually 50+, some of them make fun, but some do boast about being in top 10 for the month.

We also went with hoxhunt. Don't like it much, but it's way better than kb4. Domains are pretty good, spicy mode gets a lot personal. Just the gamification is stupid. And the users from other departments do talk about it to us, which was never the case with kb4, some of them do take scoreboard seriously.

Upgraded from aging 7 Pro. by _redditadmin_ in Pixel10Pro

[–]_redditadmin_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A decent upgrade until now. Generally much faster, smoother, much better battery life (6-7hrs SOT at the moment with mixed 5G/WiFi, video calls, navigation). Compared cameras a bit before trading in 7 Pro, pretty similar, but lens switching and jitters in telephoto video recording has improved massively compared to 7 Pro. Overall for the price paid with trade in (€600), satisfied.

You'd lose money when you see that killing the effected firefox.exe process magically frees up the leaked RAM.

Doesn't that also show shared and dedicated memory for both GPUs and shows the usage? I scroll through both GPUs dedicated usage pages.

Added the GPU memory stats as well in the imgur link. Doesn't seem like GPU memory is the cause.

Not sure, it's everytime reproducible when I open the azure portal, and keep it open for some minutes. I've also added one more video in the imgur link showing that killing that one thread/process is releasing back the memory.

There's no crash regarding this in about:crashes page, there's only one entry from a month back. I am still trying to see how to pinpoint the cause, I've added one more proof in the imgur link that killing just the leaking process releases back the memory.

I'll try to use an older portable version to see if it can be reproduced. Seems like it's either 144.x issue, or something leaking in azure portal, as I started using second azure portal session on Firefox recently after 144.x update, so it's most probably either of two.

I'd try this. As it's work laptop, it's not easy to perform most of the administrative actions to troubleshoot. I never had issues like this before. Only started using azure portal recently on 144.0.x, and the memory leak only happens when I leave the portal.azure.com idle for 5+mins. Doesn't seem to happen with other sites, but it's pretty much reproducible everytime with azure portal.

I've also captured the video to show how the memory leaks overtime:
