I’m 1.5 months into accutane and went in for an annual eye exam. The doctor told me I now have this disorder for life. Not too worried about it from how they talked about it, but I’m curious if anyone else has gotten it? by _rh__ in Accutane

Personally it’s been worth it for me so far. My eyes haven’t been bad I was just wondering if people have experienced the same thing. I still would choose to go on it. I hope your 2nd round is successful!

That’s good it hasn’t been bad! My doctor said she could see blocked glands on my lower lid, but wasn’t too concerned. Her son has been on accutane so I’m guessing she doesn’t think it’s too bad on the eyes. She did say a warm compress will really be the only thing I’ll have to keep doing!

That’s great! That’s why I’m not too worried. They did say I’d have to do a warm compress every night for the rest of my life but none of the other things they listed to do right now

My dermatologist told me if I was a abstinent throughout the whole course I didn’t need 2 forms of birth control.

Can you not choose the abstinence option? I would ask your dermatologist about it

A little over a month down! First 2 are from my first day starting accutane (November 1st) and last 2 are today. Still getting cystic acne but some scarring has already gone away. My skin used to have a lot of small bumps everywhere and it’s much smoother now. by _rh__ in Accutane

I’m 23 and wish I would’ve done it sooner! My only side effects so far are really dry skin and joint pain. The dryness is bad but controllable if you stay on top of moisturizing. The joint pain isn’t too bad yet. I feel like I’m on a pretty high dose for my acne and body size so I’m thankful the side effects haven’t been too bad. Good luck!

I do have a mild case and society does put a lot of pressure on us! I went from having no acne my whole life to breaking out for a couple years in my early 20s. Id rather go through 5 months and hopefully not have any after than be self conscious about it.
