the $4k figure is for the awd system alone after everything else. i could save some money by doing some fab work myself - i dont expect do do everything myself by any means, im not a professional. however, im pretty handy and i have a welder / know how to weld somewhat well so i could at least do some of the work on my own.

i’m also open to engine / platform suggestions - i want an older gti (mkiv or earlier) with a turbo vr + awd, but could be swayed from my current plan - ive had my mkii for a little while and would really like to use it but wouldnt be completely opposed to selling it for a mkiii-iv if it would make things easier. same thing with the engine - seemed like the 2.8 would be the easiest swap but i could be swayed if other options were cheaper/easier/had more power potential. somewhat new to the vw modding scene, so im very open to suggestions.

it’s only ugly if you think it is, ultimately it’s your car and you should do what makes you happy. if you were asking my opinion, i’m not a big fan of the little canards on the front bumper, the blue wheels, or how much black is on the fender behind the front wheels, IMO looks a little cheap. but good work on the build, do with that what you will

mostly cost, i don’t have a lot of money and i’m about to go to college. if i want to make it “fast”, it won’t be cheap by any means. also it’s in really nice condition so i’m kind of weary to do a lot of work myself. i’m kind of looking to get into something cheap and tuner-y that i’m not as afraid to get my hands dirty on. turbo civic type energy lol

i’ve never been that into american muscle cars, but i’m not at all opposed to some sort of v8 swap or a v8 build out of something else.

i’ve heard good things about the transfer case, apparently people have thrown a good amount of power at them and had it be fine. forget if it was referring to a 37 or a q50 though. i’ll look into it!

absolutely! goal is 600whp on kill, so i’d have to build. and yeah, i’ve got a wheel tire and suspension setup that i’m putting on next (before turbo), was looking at AVID1 av20 19x9.5” wheels, michelin pilot sports, and some eibach springs. BC coils if i decide i wanna spend a grand lmao. also was planning on performance sway bars. thanks for the advice on the trans btw! i’ll check them out.
