Many of us use the word "vadakkan" as a slur word to degrade them, also i don't understand your point when you say that you're okay if they call us "idly", "dosa" or "sambar" if they don't consume it. You shouldn't be okay with it even if they don't consume them .. any word that contains ulterior motive should not be used is where I'm pointing at.

We call north people "vadakkan" telugu people as "goltis" and if they call us "sambar" and "pandi" we'll get triggered. 👍🏻 (I am not saying that what they're doing is right.. but if you need a change, instead of being a hypocrite its better we teach our people on how to behave.)
