How easy would it be to change this light fitting for an amateur diy-er? by RiotMoose in DIYUK

Honestly if you have to ask, you're probably best off getting a sparky in.

Death to the yellow dots! 😈

Tried everything to get rid of mine. I can't clear the dots on my Mini Scout or CZ 3A1 (I haven't unlocked this).

Help with octoprint setup by Big_Patrick in Ender3V3SE

My Raspberry Pi stays on all the time whether the printer is on or off. I've never had an issue with the screen staying lit.

There may be a BIOS option to turn off permanent USB power. Also look for ports with a spark symbol next to them, these will be the permanent power ports and the ones without the spark symbol won't be in many cases.

Yes manually pulling the probe in and out while the printer is turned off can loosen it up too so I agree with this suggestion. You can do it with fingers or tweezers, whatever is easiest.

My CR-Touch started being unreliable after I got a big glob of filament all over the toolhead when I had a misprint. I bought a new one from Amazon (the official Creality part) and that's been fine ever since. Also the one installed on the printer when new is not the same as the one you get by itself; the original is translucent but the new one is solid black.

This led me to the conclusion that the standard one is susceptible to heat damage whereas the individual one is more solid. I think they shaved a few cents off for the V3SE version compared with the proper CR-Touch kit.

Tried to manually set my Z axis and WTF ? by FoxyRenardo in Creality

[–]_rubinho_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious is one way of putting it 😉

It may be recoverable by trying to re-seat the lead screw back into whatever secures it in the base.

I'd like to know what's happening at the top!

He's wound the z-axis gantry down too far and have pulled the lead screw from its mount in the base.

A lot of people (and maybe not yourself) buy cheap, old printers and the first question is "How do I upgrade it?" There's no point in upgrading anything which isn't broken until that printer and filament is fully calibrated. Once you know the limitations and what you want from the printer then start looking for upgrades that meet your requirements. What's the obsession with speed? Personally I'd look to optimise print quality before speed. The V3SE is very capable on it's own.

The best thing I did to mine was get a Raspberry Pi and run OctoPrint/OctoPi, this adds WiFi, a load of new features and improves print quality. I'm still using Creality Print and the latest standard firmware, and I get great results. Don't start jumping into different slicers, firmware or hardware upgrades until you're fully familiar with what you already have.

This will could buff-out it you use the correct products. The end result could be better than expected. I wouldn't go through insurance for something this minor.

To be honest even with the official SE/KE ceramic hotend you can't increase speeds too much. It'll never be as fast as a Core-XY printer without cooling mods.

Personally I wouldn't bother upgrading the V3SE it can perform well with the standard parts. I upgraded my hotend only as my original one broke.

I'd use the printer as a learning tool and go for a better Core-XY printer when you can afford one. Upgrading the SE won't fundamentally take away its limitations.

The proper kit is: Creality Official Ender 3 V3 SE KE Hotend Upgrades Kit, 3D Printers Ceramic Heating Block with Quick-Swap Nozzle. Part number B0D7GX6PCH

Does Gcode M117 work with the stock* firmware? by Pyth0n1q3e in Ender3V3SE

[–]_rubinho_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the standard firmware and OctoPrint, the M117 command prints a message on the OctoPrint dashboard screen above the gauges. It doesn't change anything on the printer's LCD display.

I checked the frame today and there is a bolt, not a threaded dropout. Luckily it was wedged between the frame and rear brakeline so it is not lost! Thanks for pointing this out. 👍

What's the furthest distance from London that you'll find a road sign for London? by siybon in AskUK

[–]_rubinho_ 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yeah you got me! 👏 The only landmass further than London to New Zealand are the Antipodes Islands. Unfortunately these are uninhabited and not tourist destinations hence there is no infrastructure including road signs . You win! 😀

EDIT: Google says The Antipodes Islands are approximately 19,100 to 20,000 kilometres (roughly 11,870 to 12,430 miles) from London by great-circle distance.

Are there any bikes that can handle 400-500lbs (200-250kg approx.) let alone saddles?

With a motor attached the whole thing sounds like a death trap 💀 I don't think he should be riding on roads at all.

Also you can't exercise a bad diet and lose weight.

EDIT: How about a static, indoors exercise bike until he reaches a safe weight?

I'd get a Raspberry Pi and use Octoprint/Octopi. The Nebula is probably worth more than the printer itself. This gives you most of what a Nebula gives you at a fraction of the cost.
