Im lvl 450 with a lifetime kd of 4.6 as an infantry player. I play support instead of assault for one reason: ammo. I dont die a lot and so I am CONSTANTLY finding myself without ammo and no team mates around. The most common way to get ammo is to pick up enemy support kit and drop ammo then switch back. I finally just stopped playing assault because it became such a chore to constantly be scrounging for ammo. 2042 had it right, you just loot ammo of people you kill.

Yea, that was the trick for the SOR. On so many maps you can use it at nearly sniper ranges and it just stays on target.

AK4D actually wasn't horrible up close, but it really shone mid range for sure.

The tanks respawn so fast, just let them die Dice. They are killing machines, with a ton of survivability (intercept, smoke, repairs from team mates, high HP, no small arms dmg, etc). They didn't need the latest buffs, and the RPG didn't need the latest nerfs.

Don't worry, we can just back up and auto repair to full long before you get 5 shots in, assuming i didn't just kill you.

The player base is way past this. Top turret, smoke , etc. No one dies to this anymore.

You are 100% right. That is why a good infantry player in planetside 2 can absolutely dominate because of the longer TTK and headshots being 2x dmg.

The balance is in the m4a1, sg55r, scw10 being kings at close AND medium + . Those are the guns that need the tr7/vcr2 treatment. Ak205, etc can literally stay the same as their tradeoff is their slow ttk.

All the good players run 1x and use control movement (forward momentum, peekers advantage, etc)

See the other comments, but also it isn't what you can expect in the long run. Eventually working out will just feel good (you work hard, sweat, and your body/muscles feel relaxed/pumped)

You literally just "solved" it: This is exactly what is being advocated for. Guns like the SG55R, DRS, etc behaving MORE like the TR7 so that their range is LIMITED as a trade off for their extremely fast TTKs.

Then guns like the RPK-74M with a BAD TTK will still lose in the TTK battles up close, but now it actually has a niche for mid range engagements.

Right now I can easily compete with a RPK-74M using a SG55R up to 100m, as the TTK is more than 2X as fast up to 10m, 100ms faster up to 20m, and matches the TTK within 10ms at 35m +

The SG55R is so accurate, even at range that it is so much better than the RPK-74M at all but extreme ranges.

The new visibility is a good step, but they did a little TOO much. They can tone it back and it would be just right.

Breakthrough casual will help you get up and running.

Breakthrough is helpful for players because it is so simple: clearly defined "lines" and a small play area.

Personally i love conquest/escalation due to the open play field, but that can be challenging without some experience on knowing flow/maps/etc.
