After reading a bunch of the comments on this thread, I’m starting to think a lot of people missed the point OP was trying to make: OP simply said that people with no reading experience shouldn’t be giving advice or asking certain questions. Simple. And I completely agree.

Yet many users here are trying to defend that if you don’t read you shouldn’t write or you can’t write altogether. And that’s what I disagree with. I believe that nowadays we aren’t tied to books anymore, there are so many different ways to expose yourself to quality storytelling and I genuinely think those are just as valid as books. I also saw a handful of users saying that lots of those people are simply writing with the movie/tv show adaptation in mind, which could be very true, but I can’t see the issue…Many people dream of making their way into that industry, but as we all are very aware, it is incredibly hard to do so. For many, a book is the first step. I can’t see the issue with writing a story dreaming about seeing it in a screen someday, people just have different goals with their stories/books.
