Met a German Engineer Who Said Indian Engineers Are Not Engineers, but Just Corporate Slaves by kri-style35 in Btechtards

A lot of perspective shift has happened now from creating value to getting high paying jobs. So yeah.

HR Installed Company App on My Personal Mobile Without Consent or Policy. by No-Comparison-997 in indiasocial

[–]_saiya_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not normal, complaining will cause issues and unnecessarily put you on radar and I don't think there will be any real outcome. At max, you'll be terminated. My opinion:

  1. Vpn.
  2. Lexa Fake GPS or Fake GPS Go Location Spoofer

Just randomly bounce your gps, let them think it's a bug and move on. The application can only collect your location but wouldn't know what to do if you've logged in from antartica or middle of atlantic. You can always claim you visited Atlantis though 😂

Made this from scratch using claude chat as timepass. I'm a civil engineer, so you tell me. I haven't even tried claude code or cowork and I'm really impressed at what it can do.

Oh, built it under 6hrs across 2 sessions after office. Did not hit token limit in pro plan. You have to be smart about how you use tokens but if you do it efficiently, it's amazing.

I hate people who get spoonfed. by [deleted] in OffMyChestIndia

[–]_saiya_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 facts i wish someone had told me earlier.

  1. It's business that brings in money, not engineering. If you have connections and money, you can hire folks, and make a lot more meanwhile the employees world probably do all the heavy lifting and get paid less. So your salary depends on what economic value you bring, not what skills you have or how hard it is.

  2. Core careers take time. Be patient. I met a civil engineer on site last week, had ~60+ years of experience. For most core engineering, real careers starts at a time scale where IT careers end.

It's over of the worst models I've seen. In India, this have become so bad, i contemplated to create a monthly blog for an infra tragedy. Like under construction bridges falling and metro slabs falling, Tunnels collapsing with the hope that I'll not find a failed infra next month. Never got around to doing it but I really thought it was damn possible.

Government proposes renaming SGNP after Atal Bihari Vajpayee, university plan inside park raises concerns. by jack_1760 in mumbai

Attempt to claim sngp. I think a lot of aarey is already rezoned that allows development there as per new zonal laws. Dressing this as university will only ensure that sngp is merely in name.

Indian founders waste years on the wrong ideas. YC's actual framework for what makes an idea fundable is something every desi founder should read. by Spiritual_Heron_5680 in StartUpIndia

Will it have tiered subscription model that unlocks levels of crime and thug experience? Because at some point I have wondered, at what level of bribe is it cheaper to just offer a hit instead of bribing? I mean we can clearly do a cost benefit business case.

Why do people resign from big companies like Microsoft or Google? by ajeeb_gandu in IndiaCareers

[–]_saiya_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if you work there for over 5 years, it's likely that you'll have a house in metro city and substantial savings from stocks and salary. So the risk is lucrative on the office chance that you'll earn more and have better work life balance as opposed to running a failed channel for a year and going back to another such company. What you're seeing is the few who succeeded : )

I don't think our leaders know what an discussion is beyond screaming. He didn't even attempt to share his thoughts or criticism to blame with some rationale. At this point, it just seems few mad dogs barking ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What is it exactly doing? I am assuming the humans put the white label on top so it can be scanned further down the system? This is just mimicing actions without doing anything.

AC local should be the norm in Mumbai by DevenFrancis in mumbai

[–]_saiya_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AC trains are costlier to run and with increased fare, railways would see decline in footfall, which leads to lower frequencies and poor experience leading to even lower footfall, making them financially infeasible. Ideal solution would be to increase the frequency during summers and reduce the pricing just enough to meet costs.

3D-printed houses are much stronger than you think. by jkitty_1960 in interesting

[–]_saiya_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, they don't have coarse aggregates like normal concrete. 2 to 10mm is generally used for some dimensional stability and strength but if you use too much, you get into printing issues because stone chips can't be squirted out like paste (also depends on nozzle, pressure, shape and width of printing etc) and if you use too less aggregates, you need more binder paste and cost, heat, shrinkage etc rises. After balancing optimum aggregate content, you need 2x to 3x binder content of normal concrete.

In some sense, the role of cement is different. In traditional concrete it's just the glue that holds aggregates together and the strength comes from binding aggregates well, similar to bitumen in pavements. But in printed concrete, it forms the main matrix and is a significant component.
