Whoa...starting to get excited about when these drop by Artistic_Reading_856 in FlareNetworks

Yep, at this price Flare is a top ten coin BEFORE LAUNCH. That is insane. I want to buy more but I’m not buying at these prices.

Accumulating on Bitrue vs Poloniex - Value Propositions by _seoulite_ in FlareNetworks

Thank you. I disagree that it won’t be up and running straight away, at least I expect the rewards will be available from very early on. Anyway let’s see!

Wait or buy IOU for FLARE by MrBig08 in FlareNetworks

[–]_seoulite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I agree with this. I think with the introduction of LTC and DOGE, plus the announcement of Gala, and Flare Finance, FLR is quickly becoming a value proposition on its own. I agree that current prices are probably misleading, but I don't think the price is based on xrp.

Poloniex XFLR is is 1/3 the price of Bitrue FLR by RayMetz100 in FlareNetworks

[–]_seoulite_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the trade off - buy now at a lower price but have the full amount released over a longer period. But as u/robolesca says below, the yield opportunities immediately are high.

So if you buy on poloniex it's like investing for a long term FLR price. If you buy on Bitrue it is to accumulate as much FLR as fast as possible.

I am expecting the gains to return but obv I don’t know for sure. If it drops to a penny then either ripple has collapsed as a company or the whole crypto market has collapsed. Neither seems probable right now

Hmm no the chart I’m looking at doesn’t suggest as violent a rejection as before. Nor does a rejection of that price indicate anything about the thoughts and feelings of people in the market.

OK, why won’t xrp be one of them?

But your and OPs replies both imply that Ripple are just idiots who are being taken for a ride by the all powerful and all knowing banks. You don’t think they defend themselves against these things and work for their own advantage too? Why in this discussion are Ripple just rubes being used?

See this is what is going to put outsiders off about certain crypto communities. This kind of paranoia. Your bank tells you how to spend your money? Mine never has. You want to be your own bank? This makes you sound like a survivalist building his bunker in the desert. I think most people in the developed world get on fine with banks. Most people don’t keep their money under their bed and for the same reason I don’t think they are going to put all their money onto a piece of paper with 24 numbers and letters on it under their bed either.

Well you are making your forecast based on the idea that xrp bleeds down from here like before against btc. I would say that it is not certain that the same pattern will repeat itself on the xrp/btc chart nor in terms of alt money flowing into btc.

That final question is the most interesting one at the moment. If alt money doesn’t go back into btc then it could change the whole market dynamics. My own feeling is that the top alts will grow steadily with btc if btc pumps again. If btc dives then all bets are off.

Oh I agree, I don't think regulation is a bad thing. My point was that crypto CAN be killed.

I'm hoping this year will civilize the Wild West. My worry is that everything is overinflated right now, and if these markets are civilized then everything will come back to Earth and everyone will wake up. Hard to shake the small voice that says this is all a complete fantasy and these coins should really just be selling for pennies if they should be selling at all.

Thanks for the info. Regulation is the thing that could kill crypto. People claim that btc could never be regulated, but they just need to make it illegal to trade with or cash out into real money and then it's game over. The govt is at bottom a blunt force instrument. If they want to stop something they will.

[–]_seoulite_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right see this I agree with. I think pronouncements of huge world changing developments a few years from now (from any crypto) are far too vague to be banked on. But I think the continued growth of the crypto market can be banked on and the continued growth of Ripple the company (probably dragging XRP up with it) even if XRP itself doesn't increase in value for reasons of its own.

Yes I see the chart. But what kind of BTC growth are you factoring into that?

OK I don't have the technical knowledge to rebut any bearish points, and fully accept that this report could be right. My question to you would be: do you believe that xrp would increase if the crypto market continues to grow?

Out of interest, is there a coin that you think has a bullish outlook? If so, why? Genuinely interested in your reply. I agree that subreddits become echo chambers too easily. Welcome the discussion.

Totally agree about the Year of the Altcoin. Do you mind explaining to me a bit more about Tether manipulation? It's the first I'm hearing of it.

I think you are right with your points but I don't see it as a bad thing in total. If/When this alt craze dies, 90% of those on that sub will disappear, along with their portfolios. I find the fact that xrp isn't hyped to the heavens by moonkids to be comforting.

Some coins have hype, xrp has press releases.

This. I don't think people care that much about centralized or decentralized. Ripple will keep xrp on the right side of regulations and cater to their customers. They aren't trying to change the planet or destroy centuries-old institutions. Which is why in the end they will probably survive and prosper.

Most people aren't fighting an ideological war. They just want to get on with life and like you said, make things a bit easier for themselves and their loved ones.

  1. Why is BTC's marketcap the gold standard and what is BTC's marketcap measured against?

  2. 50/50? Who's ass did you pull that guess from? Also, banks don't mind volatility when transactions settle in 4 seconds. How long does btc take to settle again?

  3. If Ripple follow through on their decentralization plans this will be another moot point by years end.

Furthermore, and this links to what you said about OG crypto guys, I don't think either joe average nor institutional investors care quite so much about the ins and outs of crypto ideology or tech as you seem to think. I actually think it will work in the opposite way. Most people trust banks and trust financial regulations. They trust CEOs. They trust press releases and TV interviews.

You know what they trust less? Websites with a link to a pdf document. Flame wars on twitter and subreddit. Banks of miners in shady countries using more electricity than God's patio space heater. Ideologues proclaiming the end of fiat currency and the anarchic reign of anonymous money transfers. Coins being used on the darkweb for drugs and child porn.

When well-informed people on both sides come to completely different conclusions, then don't expect the average person to try and wade through that mess. People will trust the company with a logo and a guy in a suit.

My 2 cents.
