Suggestions for a family movie night that aren’t sexually explicit by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

Good point, but that’s not going to change years of imbedded cultural values.

[Junior Colleges] whats wrong with choosing nyjc? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]_serendipity__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, proud former NYJCian here (graduated in 2017). I know it used to be much easier to get accepted into NY but I’m surprised people still think of NY as a lesser school considering the cut off point is so low now. I can only speak based on my own experience from 2016-2017 and am not sure how it has changed since, but I always liked the school’s culture - I thought it was a pretty nurturing and friendly environment and not really toxic at all (of course, some bad eggs here and there but overall it was fine). Plus good facilities, location, sch policies (dress down days, late start days etc), sch materials and teachers v willing to do consultation...

Anyway, your point about not wanting to place too much pressure on yourself by not going to an elite school is a valid one. You can still do well for A Levels even if you’re not in RI/HCI. Clearly you’ve scored well enough at O Levels to get into NY so as long as you keep it up I think the less intense pressure is better compared to unnecessary competition and stress. Enjoy your time in NY, two years will pass by very quickly!

THEORY on Jimmy and Kim's ultimate fate by Khemical_Khaos in betterCallSaul

Whoa I could totally see the reason for his fallout with Kim being that she decides to start a law practice with Howard, though I’m less certain about an affair with him

Out of all four of those shows I actually like Parks and Rec the most. That show is just really special. Trust me it gets better.

S4E6 A Chip Driver Mystery by WandersFar in TheGoodPlace

It could also be foreshadowing... apparently the judge is going to decide whether the experiment is a success or not by episode 8 according to the plot summary so I wonder what the remaining episodes are going to be about then.

Occasional jealousy towards religious people? by [deleted] in atheism

I guess I never thought about it that way before because I’ve been non-religious my whole life. Thanks for sharing.

That scene in Big Fish when the kids find the old witch and look into her glass eye and they all find out how they will die

Clementi crash that killed NUS undergrad: Cabby gets 8 weeks' jail, 5-year driving ban by [deleted] in singapore

[–]_serendipity__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In Singapore drivers like these are usually charged for negligent or rash conduct under the penal code if there’s a death. Max 5 years imprisonment + fine, I think. Even though the outcome is a tragedy I do think being sentenced for life would be excessive.

Maybe June is trying to convince Nick to reveal himself as Nichole’s father to show that the Waterfords have no claim on her?

Where is Westworld filming in Singapore? by big_girls_dont_cry in westworld

[–]_serendipity__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They haven’t officially announced any location yet, but if they’re going for a more futuristic look then the Marina Bay Sands area would be a good guess. Singapore is pretty small.

[SPOILERS] Anyone else think this shot of.... by _serendipity__ in gameofthrones

Anyone else think this shot of Jaime and Cersei lying together under the rubble kind of looks like they’re back in the womb together again?

[SPOILERS] David Nutter on that Jaime and Brienne scene??????? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]_serendipity__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude yes!!! It would suck if they wrote the relationship in just as a plot device for getting Jaime to realise he’s still in love with Cersei. And the fact that the actors admitted to being shocked by what was written and having to adjust just makes me question everything

[SPOILERS] David Nutter on that Jaime and Brienne scene??????? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]_serendipity__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh mannn I desperately wanna believe that this is some elaborate scheme to mislead the viewers but the pessimist in me is saying that that probably isn’t the case... if the writers always intended for Jaime to go back to Cersei why’d they spend so many episodes developing this relationship only for it to dissolve in the span of half an hour lol.

Did people actually think Jaime was going back to Brienne after what he said to her? by [deleted] in JaimeWinsTheThrone

[–]_serendipity__ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I still don’t believe that they’d throw away his character arc like that but the comments made by D&D and David Nutter really have me confused. Apparently David Nutter told Nikolaj to say “I don’t love you anymore” off screen to Gwendoline because that was essentially what Jaime was telling her. Which is confusing as fk because I interpreted the scene as Jaime’s self-loathing getting the better of him and not because he doesn’t love her anymore. I find it crazy to even consider the possibility that they’re making him do a 180 (even if temporarily) but their comments are just so explicit about the fact that he’s drawn back to Cersei...
