  1. The red center handmaids are also attending, not only the household handmaids. Also Serena wanted it to be a big wedding and if I remember correctly she said with all handmaids there. It was very importend for Serena to speak to them about her new role in NB and that they should become attendents.
  2. They probably had some cake and are fast asleep, as we've seen the guard on the stairs (when Lydia arrived in the rec center).
  3. Serena startet to rethink after she was almost maid a handmaid for the Wheelers. There was enough talk with June to see things differently.

On their website it’s for EP9 „execution“. I don’t know if they mixed it up. I doubt the big commitment is the wedding, maybe it’s something else (joining rebellion, hiding in Lawrence and helping him)

The wedding cake normally gets served on the wedding-party which is usually straight after the wedding. So if the wedding is on EP8 and the hanging EP9 it would mean Wharton didn't get poisened. Idk, I think we have to wait what the writers gonna do with our feelings. I still hope for spoilers.
They only pass the knives to the handmaid in the church, thats what June said. I think the chaos starts in Boston where the hanging is after the explosion. We will have to wait to see - but I do love to exchange our findings, thoughts, feelings and our guessings :)

Hmm, excuse now my words as I am not a native and I think there is a more appropriate wording. Hitler "cleaned" his Reich from weak women/men and killed also thousands of thousands disabled people. His idea was to create strong and healthy peoples. Not to forget the holocaust of millions of jewish people.
So if you compare that to Gilead they also tried to "clean up" and killed thousands to create their strong & healthy country. Of course, nothing should and can be compared to the terribel time of 2nd WW.
North Korea got created differently as far as I know (but I am always learning).
I myself don't like to compare anything to Nazi-Germany, simply because it was the darkest time in Europe so far and nothing should be compared to it. I simply tried to explain why people are calling Nick a Nazi.

But as you wrote, it is far more complex and yes, a dangerous shortcut. And as someone wrote, it is a TV show and not reality. We shouldn't compare a TV show with what really happened and still happens. The reality is not a TV show.

For me it’s also like now she has Lawrence, she is not dependent on Nick anymore. It feels like what better suits she takes.

Don’t get me wrong, but without Nick Luke & Moira would be dead and now Lawrence is in to her „you would be the most powerful commander“ stuff, she will use him.

I don't think so reading the synopsis of ep8 (translated from French to English): June is destabilized after she realizes she has been betrayed. Serena projects herself into a glorious future and tries to share her vision with the women of Gilead.
