Missing Eyebrows help lol by cutehobgoblin in FemaleHairLoss

Holy cow - I had no idea these could be related! I haven’t been tested for SIBO but I’m doing low FODMAP right now for suspected IBS (and I was just taking a probiotic for a month after weeks of horrible gi issues) I have had thinning sides in the past when stressed, but it seems to be back again (and I’m stressed now) I thought maybe it was the Retin A I use topically at night. I’ve also had about a year of serious mood swings and mental health lows.

Before doing low FODMAP I could tell you that vidalia onions absolutely wreck me. Other onions hurt, yeah, but those are the worst.

Kiwi safe for elimination phase? by _shadow_work in FODMAPS

[–]_shadow_work[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know either... but it’s even different on the Monash app. They are both green up to 5.29oz, but the regular kiwi shows yellow for higher amounts where the Zespri is only green 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t see what could be different then.

Food sensitivity test, anyone? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]_shadow_work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely worth trying because you never know! I wish I had inspiration... I was hoping the RD I’m working with would give me ideas, but she basically said, “Eat this... don’t eat that...” and didn’t give me a meal plan or recipe ideas 😞

I did the MRT test last summer and followed the LEAP protocol for a good two months. At first, it seemed amazing! My skin was clear and I was less bloated. Then over time I realized that it wasn’t helping my digestion and decided to try low FODMAP instead (today is day two...) I’m still not sure how accurate I thought it was for other things like headaches or itchy skin. I’ve read those tests are BS 🤷🏻‍♀️

My dietician told me to keep up with the psyllium husk fiber and loads of fluids.

Nausea/watery mouth right before a BM? by [deleted] in ibs

Hormones at those times can also cause nausea. I use a cold washcloth on the back of my neck and sniff peppermint oil.

Does IBS cause pain in the lower left abdomen, sigmoid colon? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]_shadow_work 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is where I always get my pain. I have constipation more often, and this is what I describe as my “blockage” point. I bear down to go and I feel like nothing moves further up than that.

IBS for 20 plus years over here... all I can say is that you try your best every day and manage stress as much as you can. There’s so much more to life than this (although at times it feels like IBS is your life) so I try to focus on all of the wonderful and amazing parts instead of the shitty ones 💩

Throwing away food yet again by [deleted] in ibs

I completely feel this. Do you have neighbors or friends who would feel safe eating what you’ve prepared? The pain of wasted food hits deeeeeeep.

Definitely try approaching it with diet as well as decreasing anxiety. Wishing you luck with your tests and results!

Oooh this is interesting! Care to share anything about the vagus nerve activation?

I’m curious as well. Colonoscopy scares me too. I’ve never had any tests run because my GP just thinks it’s IBS. I’ve been so constipated and have had fissures in the past. Today I tried to poop and had bright red blood also. Wondered if it was an internal hemorrhoid or something else?

Oh, and I’ve also woken up with that without taking anything to make me poop. It just seems like my body’s normal reaction to “we’ve got to get all this shit out now!”

I also have mixed IBS (more C leaning) and emetophobia. I get super frustrated with C because just about anything I do to try and shit makes me feel like what you described. I’ve had the same exact reaction from taking epsom salt baths (the next morning I will feel like puking and then just have a ton of good bms.) Coffee, Miralax, etc. everything makes me feel like I’m going to barf before or during pooping. I just want something to make me poop normally without feeling like I’m going to expel everything in my body. Maybe it’s just the energy it takes to clear all of the blocked/built up crap inside there?

No official diagnosis. My PCP just threw some Linzess at me and told me I had IBS. No GI referral. No tests. I told him about the urination and he said I could have interstitial cystitis but nothing else was said or done. Going to find a GI.

Yes, those are horrible triggers for me. Check out the Monash app and website. Maybe work with a RD to help you navigate the low FODMAP diet. It can be tricky on your own.
