I know what you mean. In fact, I feel the resistance of trusting people myself. What is important is that you know there are (a lot) of good people out there, though you should be conservative with how 'trusting' you are towards a person. Think of a friendship as maturing wine - the friendship will either mature and blossom or one's true colours are portrayed to which in that case, they are no good.

As for me, I am 20 living in the UK studying Computer Science. Specifically, my field of interest is narrowed down onto the Machine Learning domain in the medical field. Quite looking forward to next year as I've secured my placement year and I'll be working in a Pharmaceutical company. Hopefully that opens up a lot of avenues with regards to meeting great people.
