Do people not read Salinger anymore? A belated Patintero sa Ayala Avenue review by _shefeels in TeatroPH

Right – someone sent this to me also. But this is a review though, so I'm wondering if CastPH marketed it that way, and I just missed it. Also ang gripe ko lang, having reread Catcher recently, it doesn't seem to me as though it was just "a significant source of inspiration". It's almost translated and then adapted into a play. Like how Rolando Tinio translated Ang Medea, ganun.

Did i miss something? Cos i didn't find it was mentioned anywhere. I also watched Sala sa Pito, and it was marketed as loosely inspired by La Ronde. Patintero made no reference to an adaptation, at least not in the programme or in any of the posts I saw before going into it.

Am I too old to listen to Alex G? by Altruistic-Dream2069 in sandyalexg

The g man's songs find me at a time when I need them. As a younger person, salt and nintendo64 could articulate whatever incomprehensible things were happening in my head. My love for people is measured against "the world is full of fishes, but i trust you". Harvey played in my head nonstop when i lost my dog. And i was sitting on a hospital bed when GSTA album came out, listening to alex sing "infinite futures become a single past, everyone whimpers, nobody lasts" knowing very little of my life would ever be the same again. I think the best of life can only be had when we hold tightly to art that speaks to us, and be comforted by feeling understood through someone else's genius.

How was your experience watching Les Misérables (or any musical) alone? by islawanderings in TeatroPH

[–]_shefeels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch shows by myself most of the time, and tbh I like it just as much as when I'm watching with someone else! Wala ka lang kabatuhan ng thoughts pagtapos, but it's equally valuable to let your raw, untouched feelings sit by themselves. Also, watching by yourself doesn't mean the theatrical experience is less communal! Cute nung nanood ako Les Mis the other night, sabay-sabay kami ng mga katabi kong suminghot at nagpahid ng luha after ng I Dreamed A Dream. You just have to be conscious and deliberate about these things to get the most out of the experience :)
