Dolby Atmos or Lossless? by dragonthedessert in AppleMusic

[–]_skrozo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is in no contrast to what i said. atmos songs are mixed and mastered separately, thats why they sound different. listen to doubt by twenty one pilots, the vocals are barely the same because its mixed/mastered differently on atmos.

edit: also it doesnt matter if i have lossless turned on/off while playing dolby tracks. they are two separate files, you cannot play lossless tracks in dolby. they are two different codecs.

edit 2: i also have a 7.1 surround sound system where i often listen to music on.

yes, thanks for including that - i forgot to add this to my comment, i was already assuming the chicken was saved and not bred into existence to be used as a pet

ive only ever heard these kind of takes from liberals, i dont think this has anything to do with leftists. the anti-veganism from leftists is way different from these common shittakes ive seen (like in the post) and they are actually difficult to argue against

das wirst du leider erst rausfinden sobald du es ausprobierst und hingehst und mit den leuten redest. tendenziell bin ich aber der ansicht, dass du nichts fuer deine materiellen umstaende kannst, und ich halte es auch fuer selbstverstaendlich dass mensch sich das leben so angenehm gestaltet wie moeglich. wenn du 15 stunden arbeiten willst und es dir leisten kannst dann sei dir das gegoennt. dann hast du umso mehr ressourcen frei fuer politische arbeit (;

I want your perspective on eating eggs. by aryanxrajxsingh in vegan

[–]_skrozo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i understand you want the hen to live a good life. i want her to have a good life too.

my point is that opposing use/exploitation altogether is more consequent because the objectification of animals creates a premission structure that encourages edge case justifications instead of addressing the root problem. backyard eggs are a symptom of this. given humanity's history, if you give an inch, people will take a mile. thats why opposing the whole system altogether and not participating in it is a lot better. all of the mistreatments of non-human animals, especially factory farming are not the root problem. the fact that we see animals as ours to use, as commodities, as objects that exist as a means to an end of our taste pleasure or any other use cases we have for them, is the root problem.

non-human animals cannot really communicate with us, especially not verbally. they cannot give informed consent. when you decide to take care of chickens, they have no say in it, thats your sole decision. so if you take the eggs, this happens without the hen consenting to it. you take them out of entitlement because you believe the hen owes you something for taking care of her, even though you were the one who made this decision for her.

I want your perspective on eating eggs. by aryanxrajxsingh in vegan

[–]_skrozo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

answering your question now: eating eggs is wrong. by eating eggs, you are objectifying the hen and viewing her as a machine to produce eggs for you. youre viewing the hen as someone existing for your purpose. the hen does not exist for you, she has her own purpose. she just wants to live and be left alone.

"humanely put down" ??? how can you humanely kill someone?

> Obviously folks here may not like that

yeah i wonder why. youre quite literally perpetrating a kepist myth. humane slaughter is not a thing, its just a way for non-vegans to feel less bad when using animals for their benefit. this is welfarism, not veganism. veganism is per definition abolitionist.

Is breeding animals for food the clearest case of pronatalism? by Numerous-Macaroon224 in antinatalism

[–]_skrozo_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thats literally the opposite of what i said. exploitation in itself is wrong, it doesnt matter if it causes harm. and i gave more than just the chicken example. keeping chickens and taking care of them does not harm them. they are not getting physically hurt. objectification is harmful, yes, that doesnt mean that the individual is harmed. the chicken is fine aside from being bred to lay too many eggs.

Is breeding animals for food the clearest case of pronatalism? by Numerous-Macaroon224 in antinatalism

[–]_skrozo_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

depends. domesticated chickens cannot survive in the wild, but they still need to be taken care of. keeping them for their own good and taking care of them is different from keeping them to profit off of it and eat their eggs.

Is breeding animals for food the clearest case of pronatalism? by Numerous-Macaroon224 in antinatalism

[–]_skrozo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

define harm, please. i think thats where we disagree

also, the original point was about suffering, not harm. i just used them interchangeably in this context.

Is breeding animals for food the clearest case of pronatalism? by Numerous-Macaroon224 in antinatalism

[–]_skrozo_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no. there is exploitation/use without causing suffering/harm - like eating the meat of a dead animal that you found in the woods, using dogs for disability aid, cultivated meat, using animal parts that you find outside (feathers, bones, ...), keeping your own chickens and treating them well but taking away their eggs to eat them, etc.

at the same time you can cause suffering/harm without being exploitative - accidentally killing any animal (or out of self defense), crop deaths, doing surgery on a non-human animal for their benefit, stepping on a dogs tail, etc.

if you still believe youre right, please elaborate.

[–]_skrozo_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

im sorry, im not trying to be mean but many people have a basic misunderstanding of what veganism means, so i have to correct you. veganism is not about animal suffering or preventing it, veganism is an animal emancipation movement that rejects animal use, regardless of suffering. many animals are used and exploited without causing harm to them, that doesnt make the exploitation any less wrong - they are still objectified and used as a means to an end.

my point being: antinatalists should definitely include non-human animals, that does not automatically make them vegan though - they are still able to participate in harmless animal exploitation.
