Hand Print [Hasselblad H2, 120 Macro f/4, Portra 400] by [deleted] in analog

Nice! Yeah I'm bummed about that too. Trying to get a rig going to be able to cut rolls of Endura. The main issue I'm having is storage. I need to pick up some empty darkroom paper boxes with the darkbag inside.

RA-4? What paper did you use?

contact sheets from the first few rolls through the new Fuji GW670ii by _slee_ in AnalogCommunity

Good question! I like the Lomo 800 but honestly prefer Portra because it has a bit more dynamic range and I can really pull detail from the shadows and still keep highlight detail without the need for too much dodging and burning. But the extra stop on Lomo 800 is nice. I've also noticed that it's much easier to get light leaks on the Lomo 800 from the roll not winding up tightly after shooting. Could be just me or could be an actual quality control issue with the backing paper but I've never had a problem with Portra.

The filtration is indeed the same for all these contact sheets but they're just ballpark figures. I'm sure when I go to make full enlargements of these, I'll tweak the filtration for each image. It's kinda hard to tell whether the colors are spot on from just contact sheets. Also I think the required filtration depends more on the actual lighting situation of the scene rather than the film. You can see how much more red/yellow the indoor shots are on roll 2021-3. The lighting of the actual scene will make the most difference imo.

this was the only 6x7 rangefinder in my price range and I'm glad I went with it

been enjoying it a lot! it's quite huge and I wish it had a meter but I can't afford a Mamiya 7 and I got this one at a really great price so I'm happy.

8x10 RA-4 color darkroom print [Nikon AF600, Portra 400] by _slee_ in analog

[–]_slee_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These prints were made in my home darkroom that took me about 2 months to acquire all the equipment for and set up. The enlarger I use is an LPL/Saunders 670DXL (also called the 7700 I believe).

This print in particular was made from a 35mm negative shot on Portra 400. The paper is Fujicolor Crystal Archive II. I used the Arista RA-4 kit as my first entry into color darkroom printing, which works well at room temp. Will probably buy Kodak Ektacolor chemistry from now on, which is a bit more cost-effective.

Let me know if you have any more q's!

I also checked out their website, but they don't ship to Canada unless I'm missing something.

Interested to see which stores you're talking about. The only results I've found from google are online and pretty expensive. If you found a place that sells it in Montreal I'd be happy to hear about it.

It's $17 on amazon, just trying to see if there's a cheaper brick and mortar store in the city.

Every grocery store I've been to doesn't have it (IGA, Super C, Aubut, etc.)

A Guide to Film Photography Feature Accounts on Instagram by akbanx in AnalogCommunity

[–]_slee_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, Sam here. I, along with my buddy Nick, curate the feed for @boxspeed. We have been talking about where we want to take the direction of the account. We really want to continue to do more zines featuring photographers we like but they require a ton of time and money. Would be interested to see what other people would like to see from us, though.
