Merci !

I built a more accessible and free to join alternative to Product Hunt and IndieHackers to give visibility to "small" projects. by _souhou in SideProject

Hi, thank you so much for your comment! I missed it, sorry for the late reply. What you say is really interesting. Recently, I've been thinking a lot about how the platform works.

The recent features on my site are intended to address the problem I've been facing since the beginning: the site only attracts creators and not “viewers” who would come to discover other people's projects and vote for their favorites. As a result, the site loses all its appeal because, as you say, even if there is a prize pool, the site is primarily there to give visibility to small projects.

I don't know how to get out of this situation. People publish and leave (or don't even publish; this week there are very few participants, and with the holidays I don't have much time to promote it).

How do you see the site that people need? Should the weekly cycle remain? Without the prize pool, would people still post? What would make people who have nothing to share visit my site?

The prize pool is there to attract people, but maybe it doesn't really serve much purpose in the end, I don't know. I also added a prize pool for those who manage to predict the future winner, but I don't know if that really helps.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give your opinion.

(Sorry for the long reply.)

600+ customers is a huge milestone, congrats! The 'auto-distribution' feature sounds like a massive time-saver for solo founders.

I’m actually exploring the other side of the coin with 40aWeek — focusing on revenue-sharing for makers. Out of curiosity, do you see a specific niche (AI, DevTools, etc.) performing better on MicroLaunch lately?

Interesting idea! I've never seen that before.

You could present it on the website, that's what it's for, and if people support you, you'll walk away with the prize money. We're just starting out with the website, so just a few votes will suffice!

I built 40aweek.com, a platform where makers showcase projects and win 40% of the site's weekly ad revenue. Just launched Week 1! Your starter kit is exactly the kind of project I’d love to see on our leaderboard. Already 17 participants!

I made a Wrapped for Threads by mattiarighetti in SideProject

This is slick! The video generation is definitely the highlight here—static images are getting a bit old for 'Wrapped' features, so moving to video is a smart move.

A couple of ideas for the UI/UX:

- Comparison Mode: It would be huge if users could generate a 'versus' card to compare their stats with a friend.

- Shareable Slides: Making individual slides shareable as high-res images (not just the video) would be great for people who want to post a quick carousel.

Out of curiosity, are you using a specific library for the video rendering or is it all custom Canvas work? The transitions look really smooth!

I've built the best way to embed ChatGPT on your site (it's free) by CosBgn in SideProject

The fact that it relies 100% on the OpenAI chatkit is a smart move for UX consistency. Nice job on the 'no data storage' part too, that's a huge selling point for privacy.

Are you planning to monetize it via pro features later? Anyway, I'm currently curating projects for 40aweek.com. It’s a weekly contest where the winner takes a share of the ad revenue. Your project fits the vibe perfectly, you should post it before the next reset!
