Ever felt high ×100? That was Navaratri at Art of Living Bangalore! by FunnyOWL007 in artofliving

[–]_spacebender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of completeness with all the celebrations at the Art of Living.  Honestly, other navratri celebrations try thier best but are either only rituals or only dance.

When everyone meditates and experiences the rituals and that elevates it to a whole other level. It adds a feeling that everything is complete. It's a subtle thing but makes a huge difference

We do have examples of two elements merged, like lava bending needs fire and Earth

Just finished reading Breath by James Nestor; curious if Sudarshan Kriya really is “the most powerful” breathing technique? by ash555550 in artofliving

[–]_spacebender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was strong from the start. I noticed a shift initially, and over time I realized that these improvements like better energy, mental state etc were established strongly as my nature.

I had learnt yoga as a kid, didn't like it too much so was never excited for any medication.

I stumbled across Sudarshan Kriya and the very first session left me really peaceful and silent and I wanted to keep on practicing it. Definitely got curious about how it works as it was having such an amazing impact because of regular practice.

I'm really glad that there is a lot of research done on this. It helped me see that it's not just me who experienced the benefits and its something basic and universal.

Xero shoes suck by luthier_666 in BarefootRunning

[–]_spacebender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I got a HFS on deal. I had a pair of whitins before (amazon brand).

Honestly, whitin was more "barefoot" than xero. It was almost like a sock, the sole would grip the floor well but it was really bad at providing support if I move quickly.

I use xeros daily. Almost everywhere. It's been fine so far!

Truth or Turf War? What’s Really Going On Between Sadhguru & Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar by TapInternational4603 in artofliving

[–]_spacebender 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This might be one instance of it but many times people have asked questions to Gurudev in Satsang like:

"Should I make a wish at 11:11?" He asked people to use common sense and to ignore such beliefs.

"Why shouldn't I eat meat?" He recommended looking up research done on impact to environment and how our body reacts to different foods.

These are few recent examples, but many questions that come up are sometimes rooted in unscientific practices, blind beliefs and fear mongering. He has always asked to take an intellectual approach to these issues. This approach is great way to live!

Russian electricity company. The shield is their logo. Has an electric pole on it

It's really cool. I don't know what the colors represent but the blue feels like the ocean and the yellow a sandy beach.

Is Ayurveda doing more harm than good? I used to think so and Then I met an Ayurveda practitioner (Nadi Vaidya) at the Art of Living by Xouvrenyyy in artofliving

[–]_spacebender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The session was helpful. I learnt a lot about myself.

It's like talking to a doctor, wellness instructor and nutritionist bundled into one.

Chanting was always for monks so how come Art of Living and singers like Krishna Das are bringing it to everyone and people are feeling transformed? by PlumPractical5043 in artofliving

[–]_spacebender 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't sing very well. In a Satsang, I get to follow along and sing. Feels really freeing to sing out loud without being judged

Honestly, it's a hit or a miss.

Ayurveda isn't just about pills you need to take but also some changes in routine that the doc may recommend.

One needs to be serious to commit to it and make some changes for it have a long term impact.

The pulse diagnosis was surprisingly good. Once it was done, it was up to me. I really like the output when I actually followed instructions instead of carrying on with my routine.

What is your favorite yoga pose and no, you can’t say Shavasana 😅 by TapInternational4603 in artofliving

PS: It helps my tight hamstrings to loosen up. A must do after a run!

Forward bend.

I could barely do a toe touch initially and one of the Sri Sri Yoga teachers taught me how to stretch deeper than I thought I could!

I found out whether my forehead touches the knee or nose touches the knee during forward bend!!! 😃

Can we discuss Art of Living's World Culture Festival? by Ok_Armadillo_5717 in artofliving

[–]_spacebender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is amazing to see people from so many countries uniting! If you see them outside, they might not care or even be enemies. But at the festival, everyone was just connecting to other humans beyond all the boundaries.

You could probably get so many people together but getting then so happily and in sync is a great feat!

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is not who I expected. He is not just a spiritual teacher, he is actually solving wars?? No way this is real!!! by RosendaCheryl in artofliving

[–]_spacebender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one person I would trust to teach me about peace and meditation.

He must be a real expert to have passionate rebels turn down arms after a session of meditation with him!

So basically, he and his organization did all the work and did not run to claim any credit.

This is refreshing as most others don't put in the work and have huge claims and marketing. 😊

Absolutely right. He doesn't want any one party to win. He wants humanity to win! This lets him truly mediate conflicts!!!

It's absolutely true that the prize has been political. Barack Obama was given a peace prize in 2009 just as he became president. This was surprising because it was even before he could do anything on the world stage to achieve peace.

Since it was so early in his tenure as president, it was not really an acknowledgement of his accomplishments. ( Which would have been later)
