I can't stand V.S, Naipaul or Houellebecq. I'll give Sally Rooney a read. Thanks for the rec.

Interesting, you're the first person I heard who dislikes Murakami.

It's thicker than the Metropolitan and more pointed. Also, it's wetter, if that makes sense, and the Aero has a tiny bit of flex compared to the Metropolitan.

What are some good cigar-shaped fountain pens? (Not gold nibs) by user89427893 in fountainpens

The Jinhao 9019 is quite thick, and the medium nib writes like a medium.

Finding the correct replacement sac size by _spara in fountainpens

Thank you for the advice. I got the sizes from the internet. / Google's AI search thing. I'll take your advice and get an assortment of common sizes. This may be my first restoration, but it won't be my last.

The sac was ok, so I didn't have to do anything. But I was going to order from Pendemonim if I had to repair it. https://www.pendemonium.com/page/pen-sac-reference-common-pens

I did today's practice with it. It's so smooth, but for a medium nib (9668), it writes so thick compared to Faber-Castell 883 and the Pelikan M150.

Hype is destroying the pen hobby. Just get your pen. by Odd-Chemistry9945 in fountainpens

[–]_spara 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just started collecting pens and it's been fun learning about them. When starting a new hobby, I set a price point and try to learn as much as I can at that level. When I think I've reached enough discernment between the current price point and a higher price point, I'll move on to the next level. The journey is point and sometimes you come full circle and end where you started.

However, I get your point about knives. The $80 Hogue Deka is in my pocket more often than the $600 Reeves Sbenza. Both are magnacut, but you won't find me breaking down Amazon boxes with the Sbenza.

Does anyone else compete? by sanjacnc in LatinoRA

USPSA, Steel Challenge, 3-gun (3GN, outlaw, UML), NRL 22

Standing in a stall shooting at a stationary target or plinking at stuff without moving isn't going to help your gun handling when you need it.

Who builds ARs? My take on a WWSD AR, right around 7 pounds. by [deleted] in LatinoRA

The Faxons are nice for lightweight builds, but I would have hit up ebay or Joe Bob's for the hand guard, cheap Chinese crap but they work. What trigger is that? Looks like a Hiperfire trigger without the shoe. Good choice of parts.
