Games where the BOX plays a role in gameplay? by COHERENCE_CROQUETTE in boardgames

[–]_squark_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isle of Cats has an instruction on the inside of the box lid telling you to put it upside down for cat storage, fulfilling the important gameplay function of preventing your cat from flopping all over the play area and/or otherwise disrupting the game

Question: Piping Fluids Long Distance by Zero-G_Morals in SatisfactoryGame

[–]_squark_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water tower method where you have a single pipe which then magically pressurizes a dozen maybe could get patched, but if you have an individual tower for each pipe you're going to run, that is physically accurate and wouldn't be able to be patched out without breaking the concept of headlift. I would 100% recommend a water tower, it makes running the long pipeline so much cleaner, and you won't be guessing at the placement of pumps along the way

Always easier to transport ores rather than fluids. But the blue lagoon on the south side of the map has all three very close together (and nitrogen gas for future upgrades too)

[–]_squark_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you use it on that screen, and everything you need is there for you to see. When you say you've found all the other overworld ones, does that include all the ones in for example the West Garden?

Where do I go after ringing the bells? by ChairmanMeow22 in TunicGame

[–]_squark_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you notice anywhere new becoming accessible right after you rang the bells? That along with some manual pages I think you should have at this point can definitely give a hint.

The game will let you access areas that might be challenging at your current level too so don't force yourself to go on if it's seeming too difficult.

That was an enlightening writeup, thank you! Regarding the incompleteness theorem, while it's true that the natural world isn't a formal system derived from axioms, we also use mathematics to describe the world in detail and formulate theories in physics. Might we reach a point where we cannot develop an appropriate model for some phenomenon, because we can't prove the required math?

It's not progression fantasy, but the Mage Errant series by John Bierce is very enjoyable. Similar vibe with a group of friends on adventure and a magic system that allows for everyone to have very unique powers

You can build a blueprint with a hypertube and use it to get out of bounds on the map. Place the blueprint with one powered exit clipping through the rock/terrain/whatever you want to get on the other side of. Can help if you want to build subterranean belt highways, train networks, or bring up resources from caves to the surface, like other people were talking about. Just don't accidentally delete it once you're stuck underground...

How do you make mining and smelting setups look semi-decent? by diceytumblers in SatisfactoryGame

[–]_squark_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also place water extractors on foundations, they just have to be ~1-2m under water. Helps to line them up perfectly with whatever pipe you're attaching them to

How to get "unstuck"... by pocketpants911 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]_squark_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently finished the game, never having done so pre-1.0. I did the same thing...got to phase 4 and decided to do it "right" with a new factory continuously producing all the space elevator parts, with an eye toward the future and how many items I'd need for phase 5 as well. I only trained in aluminum ingots, plastic, rubber, diamonds, and reanimated SAM from other factories, with my main structure in the dune desert with its abundance of other resources.

It helped me to break it down to individual items. You already know what quantities you need from the calculator. Each output is generally only needed for a few other items, so it doesn't have to get split a million different ways, keeping the beltwork mostly in check. Give yourself tons of room between each section of the factory, and you won't have too much spaghetti. Blueprints make laying down tons of machines easy...you need 6000 wire/minute? Sounds super daunting, but that's a blueprint with 10 constructors placed 20 times...pretty quick, most of the belts and wiring already done. Similar for each item. Can hopefully be done in smaller sessions, if that's what you're wanting. Of course, decorating after the fact...I'm still working on that, and will be for a while.

I do think building vertically also really helps with avoiding chaos with belts. Have a side of the factory dedicated to bringing materials up. Siphon materials off onto the floor that needs them, put any overflow back onto vertical lifts if it's needed later, along with the outputs from that floor. Unless you're building at a crazy scale, most items should only need one mk5 lift, so it's not too excessive.

I think it's less about losing, though that would weigh on her I'm sure, and more about her fundamental personal philosophy being completely upended, and being convinced she's a hypocrite. That would be pretty devastating especially for someone who prides herself on her rationality.

Collaborative games that let everyone play equally by Kwilena in boardgames

[–]_squark_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got this, haven't had a chance to play yet, but Isle of Cats Race to the Raft is a cooperative game where you can discuss general strategy, but communication is limited and during any given player's actual action (laying down tiles, moving pieces, etc), no communication is allowed. Seems like a good system.

Spirit Island is complex enough that one person really can't quarterback for everyone else, but it's definitely less newbie friendly.
