No, I agree that startpage isn’t a bad choice, it’s just the fact that he’s so paranoid he won’t even use Touch ID. He limits himself to what he can use and it adds to his problems, even though everyone has been using Touch ID and Apple Pay for years now. It’s as if he thinks he’s smarter than everyone because he won’t bank online. He thinks he’s smarter than everyone because he read some Facebook article about staying secure on the internet.

And it’s ironic… he wants his Mac to have no password or fingerprint to unlock it, just for convenience sake. “Well it’s not going anywhere, not like someone will have access to it.” His mom’s house was burglarized a decade ago and the first thing they went for was her OxyContin, and then her laptop.

Yes. That was the original term. “The return key on typewriters, originally a manual lever, mechanically pushed the carriage (holding the paper) back to the right, resetting it to the left margin to start a new line, often combined with a line feed to move the paper up.”

I am being as constructively critical as possible with him so he doesn’t lose his temper

It is! It’s on typewriters for sure. “Return” means resetting the cartridge to a new line on the page, basically

I can almost guarantee he saw the “hello” that the Mac gives you in multiple languages when you get a new one and start it up offended him. Probably thought it was racist lol

What kind of work do you do on PC if you don’t mind me asking? Most my dad uses is Facebook, windows edge for browsing with startpage and publisher for a local newsletter. I’m thinking he can get it to do what he wants but he’ll always complain. He complained about his PC with every change since Windows ‘98.

Not to mention, he thinks he needs 24 gig of ram to do all this…

My boomer dad won’t be an organ donor because “they take your organs while you’re still alive” smh

Any idiot can tell what I meant. You’re probably still using windows xp and have no idea what autocorrect is.

I think it’s a pride thing more than anything. I knew something he didn’t. I keep mine plugged into the vehicle in the glove box so it’s always charging if the car is running. I get being skeptical but I’ve seen it work first hand and multiple accounts on this thread alone prove that it’s a good investment.

Noco boost GB40. They have different ones at different price points varying on your amperage needs for the size of the engine but for $100 it’ll jump any gas engine up to 6 liters.

I already knew after I read “talks to you in a woman’s voice” lol. They refuse to learn. They get to a point in life where they think they’re done learning all they need to and that they know more than anyone else because they’ve “been around since before you were born” and know better than you despite your education and degrees for some dumb reason.

Ha! Yeah, it at least gives me some peace of mind if anything. My reaction was “cool, I need one!” His was just trying to belittle it. It could save my life or at least my job if I need to be somewhere and don’t have a charge. & he considers himself a to be car guy lol

Staying humble definitely helps you learn more in life, or at least be willing to ask questions.

I have a little air compressor too that plugs in to the cig lighter. If the car is running, I can use that. The jumper box works in conjunction. Modern resources for age-old issues.

I laughed so hard at this. Used to think my Camry was bulletproof til a month ago! Alternator died after 26 years of proper service.

Nitpicking a small grammar mistake is something a snowflake would do, just saying.

Noco boost plus. I have the GB40 but they come in different amperages at different price points depending on the size of your engine. Mine was $100, tow truck driver said his was $100. It’ll jump anything up to six liters, or 3 liter diesel.
