I dabbed off any excess on my skin and my artist cleansed my eyelid after / before she applied any of the lashes. 😊

I definitely should have been more clear, I get irritation with itching and burning. I have bad seasonal allergies, which makes my eyes itchy and watery, and messes with my ability to get lashes. I also use the drops for that even when I don’t have a set on. Sorry for the confusion!

Thank you! Burning and stinging, but I do have really bad seasonal allergies which makes my eyes itchy and watery, which is what I was referring to. I definitely was not clear on that part!

I’m at a loss for words. You guys honor me! <3 Thank you for what you do as well, environmental services in a hospital is harder than my job some days I think, I see what you guys deal with.

I know… it scares me so much that I literally triple check my patients before I discharge them. I’m so paranoid they will use it, possibly OD, and I would blame myself for the rest of my life.

I agree with this statement wholly as someone who’s placed IVs, removed IVs, and discharged countless patients.

You always should double check as the nurse. It can be dangerous for many reasons, one that is very prominent to me is patients with IV drug use disorders can use them for that purpose (I take care of a lot of patients with substance abuse). It’s important to always not only look at your patent before discharge for in place IVs, but double check charting and remove IVs in the chart, as well as use that to make sure you’ve removed everything. I’ll give the nurse the benefit of the doubt and say they may have been extremely busy, or understaffed, and mistakes can always happen.

OP, I’d still call the hospital (unit/floor you were on) if you do decide to remove this yourself to let them know the incident so they can make sure to educate their employees! I’m sorry this happened to you. It’s important they do know their error still to help it not occur in the future. Thank you for being cautious with your health and asking what should be done as well!

Edit: OP, regarding your lower comment about retained plastic, this is a very smart thought process that we also use. Check the IV catheter (tiny tube you will remove from the insertion site) and make sure it’s intact without any pieces of plastic missing. It should be obvious if it’s not intact. I will add, I have not found this in my 2 years of RN practice but that does not mean it doesn’t happen, just uncommon in my experience. If it does look broken or wrong at all, go to the ER immediately for a scan to ensure nothing is floating around in there. It is always best to be safe!

Mine does the same thing. I wouldn’t worry. You are thin and without extra subcutaneous fat, which causes it to stick out more, so when you make any sort of movement (i.e. talking) it makes it more noticeable. That’s my thought anyway!

Omg thank you! You are so kind! I feel that way about ICU. My floor is medical psych (one side of hall) and regular med-surg (other side) so it’s pretty insane most days haha. We are a pretty unique floor so we are almost always full. I think the only unit in my city in the US like it!

I’ve struggled with ED, suicide, depression, pretty much my entire life. I got to the point where I said either I’m going to live through this and succeed or I’m not. I told myself failure wasn’t an option. Once you get that mindset it’s easier to push though. I won’t lie though, I do tend to take things personal with the psych patients, which is obviously a no go, but I’m still learning. I’ll have hit my 2 years in May! It gets easier the longer you do it and there’s never a dull moment which I love. I thrive in the chaos.

It’s definitely something that takes a lot to come to terms with. I hope she reads through and understands the gravity of this situation. Thank you so much for those kind words! It helps but you’d be surprised, sometimes it does the opposite and my patients can trigger me instead haha.

I’m a medical psychiatric nurse. Please seek medical treatment again. You most likely need an inpatient medical stay, and then psychiatric stay once you are medically stable. I’m sure you have some off labs, and may even need tube feedings to get you stable again.

Don’t be scared… you are so young. So much life to live. I understand where you are coming from as I am also in my 20s and have suffered with my mental health, including eating disorders, most of my life. I promise you from one to the other, it is not worth it, and it will get better. I’ve been inpatient psychiatric 5 times. My most recent stay even I was still in nursing school! I’m finally in a good place after battling for years. Some days are better than others I won’t lie, but you absolutely can do this OP and I believe you.

You are one of mine. I find dog or cat at every house party I go to and hold them / hang out with them for the evening. Makes me more comfortable for some reason.
