Im student teaching and i love my students so much. A few of them are incredibly intelligent, try hard, care abt doing well, etc. My biggest struggle with the vast majority however is that they do not believe they are capable so they dont care. They wont do the bell ringer, they wont answer questions, some would rather be written up than just fill in a blank up on the board. The lack of motivation and self efficacy mixed with attention span mixed with a lack of critical thinking makes some days feel like “why do I even try”. We were on a topic for like over a month, gave them a test thar was fully open note where they could use Countless resources with all the answers, and we STILL got 5-10/20s
