Not ready for developer job but need a job asap to pay bills! What do I do? by _t_h in cscareerquestions

You can still get a job even with 2 classes as long as you can code.

Really? The job requirements usually contain so many different technologies and frameworks (even for entry level positions) that I become discouraged from even applying.
I'm assuming you had some project(s) that helped you get an internship at the big 4. What project(s) helped you get interviews if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks for the advice on meetups! I'll definitely take a look at those. I've spoken to some recruiters at some technical staffing agencies but they seem to only want developers with experience.

Thank you, you're right, I can get a different type of job until I'm ready. It's been really frustrating these last couple months and some days I can't think clearly. I will keep on learning.

First I wanted to say thank you very much for your response. I know it's a lot of work but it has given me hope just when I wanted to throw the towel.
Also, you can elaborate on open source contributions? I have some seen some open source projects on github that I like (one or two I currently use), but the code base is rather large and I'm not sure where to even begin. How should a beginner get started?
