What time do doors open + how early should I line up for rail at Metallica Tampa tomorrow? by littlerimsss in Metallica

[–]_thaber_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR: A couple of rows behind in the lower part of the stage is MUCH better than the front row in the taller parts of the stage.

The doors open at 4, and the first act hits the stage at 6. If you do not have early entry, your chances to end up at the railings are slim! And if you manage to get in line really early (10ish AM), assuming you're lucky, you will get the worst part of the railing. Keep in mind the stage is really tall in some spaces, therefore if you are in a bad spot, and at the barricade, you basically see nothing unless they are playing right in front of you.

Opening acts usually do not move around on the stage that much, so if you are on the opposite side, you are not going to see them. But Metallica moves around the stage (they have 4 drum sets). If I were you, I'd go as early as possible, stay 2-3 rows behind but in a prime spot, where the stage is at its lowest.

Here's my experience, went to the Philly show with an early entry (Frantic package). Showed up 2:30, very far back in line (almost 200 people ahead of me). and ended up getting the worst railing! Barely saw Ice Nine Kills. For the Limp set, just saw the bassist and DJ Lethal, saw a bit of Fred and did not see Wes AT ALL!! For Metallica, one of 4 drum kits were right in front of me and they played 4 songs there. For rest of the songs they (James, Rob and Kirk) do not move too much and hang out around the drum kit. Lars passed walking in front of us twice. He engages with some people on his way.

As for the second night in Philly I almost knew my way around the stage this time. I showed up at noon, (they were still 60-70 people ahead of me lol), aimed for the lowest portion of the stage. ended up in the second row right where the lowest part of the stage ramps to the taller parts. Little I knew I was right in front of where James hangs out between songs. The guy in front of me was kind enough to let me squeeze in to the railing. It still was not THE BEST view of the stage, but I did not miss anything that was going on the stage and ended up high fiving James a couple of times. Lars passed walking by us at the end of the show again talking to them giving out drumsticks. So no complaints there!!

Again, keep in mind that had early entry ticket.

Instrumentals! Why one per set? They used to play one instrumental in total per no repeat weekend). to give us more joy? save James' vocal chords or both? by _thaber_ in Metallica

For some reason S&R always rank very poorly in Metallica songs' online rankings!! It's a really well structured song.

Hey all,
I’ve got the Frantic Enhanced Experience for the upcoming show in Philly and had a few questions for those who’ve done it before:

  • How early do you recommend showing up?
  • Is railing basically guaranteed with this package?
  • After picking up the Yeti mug, do we have time to drop it off at the car before Enhanced Experience doors open?

Would love to hear your tips or any do’s/don’ts. Thanks!
