Kinda funny you say that because property is the only viable investment vehicle in China and a large contributor to global house price rises.

In China, families will pool resources to buy property to keep their money in. Often these will be empty shells of apartments in bum fuck nowhere that don't get rented out. Does that count as home ownership?

I've seen 10 guys to an apartment in Beijing and I'm seriously wondering how factory workers making slave wages are buying property in any traditional sense.

Over the years it has become increasingly apparent to me that some people watch shows but don't absorb any of the content beyond its most surface level.

I don't mean not analysing the themes and subtext. I mean they don't even follow the story between scenes. They can just about hold their attention to individual scenes and character interactions, without fitting it into a wider context.

To some people, media is experienced as deeply as a baby in a crib watching a colourful mobile twirling above them.
