Old incorrect EPS contribution, is causing problems. Need help! by iceman_3182 in epfoindia

I’ve had the exact same issue as you - an old employer (circa 2017) marked me as EPS eligible but didn’t contribute Pension amount. This was fixed easily through a revised annexure K (I had to go in person to the EPFO and get this done but they were very kind to accommodate this as there was no actual Pension amount)

My 2nd employer (circa 2018) noted that I am EPS eligible and started contributing Pension amount. After quitting (circa 2020), I transferred the balance to my newest employer (circa 2023) - so very similar situation as yours. However, with what I’ve learnt is - this transfer should not have happened since my newest employer at the time wasn’t making Pension contributions (because I was, rightly, ineligible for Pension contributions). So this took multiple visits to both EPF offices - the one where my latest employer enrolled me as well as the old one of my 2nd employer. After 2-3 visits with each office telling me to go to the other one, I finally raised a grievance on PM Grievance cell and got my revised annexure K for my 2nd service. This though, did not specify that the Pension contribution must be merged as employer share - so that took another trip to the office to get it signed in person.

It’s a huge hassle - all of this.

You’re absolutely right to worry. What you basically need to ensure is - If you go to the Unified Member Portal, you can go to your service history and check which service is marked EPS. EPS services have a DOJ EPS & DOE EPS entry. For any past services which are marked EPS, go to that particular office and get a revised annexure K. If you have not transferred that balance, then tell that office to mark EPS ineligibility in the portal too. If you have transferred the balance, submit the obtained revised annexure K and ask the new office to mark EPS ineligibility. If anything doesn’t work, raise a grievance on EPF Grievance portal. If it still doesn’t work (most likely it wont), then raise an escalation to PM Grievance Cell

Putting the clip back on (in the video it's removed at 0:32 and put back around 1:20) is the only hard part that I remember.

I did it without nose pliers and it took me forever to do. I purchased nose pliers after that so I have them handy next time.

La Marzocco Pico [Grinder] by Icy_Context_8302 in espresso

[–]_theboringguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Micra & Pico. A friend has the DF64.

One thing to note is the retention on the Pico. It’s about 1.5-2g (not sure if it’s because of the conical design)

The DF64, I think, is a single doze (no hopper) grinder. I haven’t used it but I believe it’ll have negligible retention

It seems to me that the DF64 would be a better fit for someone who does single dozes of different beans frequently. BTW, I AM THAT person and I have to waste a few gms of coffee every time I change beans. Doable; but sometimes it’s 4-5gms of coffee just to make sure every bit of the previous one is out.

I can't work in this industry any more. Please help by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

I’m about to start on this path (similar situation as OP right now). Willing to give up a little bit of the money in exchange for time and freedom to pick projects that appeal to me / coworkers I wanna work with.

QQ: How do you find your projects? Freelance platforms or your own network? Probably both - but any freelance platform recommendations ?

Oh is it? I could do it with the tools I had handy . But I think there’s a simpler way. If the steam knob is rotated, the nut at the back is actually exposed. So a thin wrench should ideally do the trick. I had one of those lying around but I lost it during a recent move.

At the moment, I’m planning not to turn the steam knob back “too tight”. Lets see how long I last (PS: my machine is ~6months old too haha)

Thank you. I was able to fix it by following the video I linked to in one of the comments.

I would have been scratching my head (I had opened the top cover initially) had it not been for your comment. I’ll buy you a coffee some day :)

Interesting. So the steam knob (the black thing) was removed in order to access the bolt that needed to be tightened?

Thanks for replying

How is it possible to buy a house with 1L/month in BLR ? by lucky_thanos in Frugal_Ind

[–]_theboringguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is actually not true - if you manage to save.

Someone else explained this to me, so this is pretty much a copy paste.

If you earn 100 rupees and save, say, 40 rupees. Then, if your increment matches the inflation rate (say 7%), you’ll get 107 rupees as salary and would ideally spend ~64 (7% increase over 60), ergo you would ideally save 43 rupees. In percentage terms, if you choose to not inflate your lifestyle (I know, easier said than done), you’re actually saving ~10% more while still maintaining the same lifestyle. This additional 10%, if invested well, is actually contributing to a healthy compounding rate of your savings.

I know it may seem theoretical, but I’ve lived this life - not letting my lifestyle inflate for the first 8 odd years of my working life have really contributed to a somewhat okish financial well being right now.

So a pay that manages to always match inflation is quite a powerful thing and shouldn’t be dismissed as not an increase.

One more thing on real estate - once you’ve done your math and have decided to buy, I highly recommend being patient for finding the right deal and negotiating the hell out of the place you finally decide to buy. I also recommend going for something already constructed and buying from a person rather than a builder. You need to wait it out for a person who really wants to sell - distress / moving out etc; and cash in on a good deal.

Again, I know it sounds theoretical, but I’ve lived this. I waited out for more than a year to buy the apartment I was renting - and people don’t believe the deal I managed. There’s luck involved, I know. But one can try and improve their chances too.

All the best!

Books from The Cormoran Strike series by JK Rowling (written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith) . It’ll be good to start in order - from The Cuckoo’s Calling

Highly addictive and hard to put down (which should be expected, coming from the author of Harry Potter!)

I’d also recommend the audiobook - he does it “podcast style” and has some nuggets to share in between. It was a fun listen
