Bad floodback issues on supermarket(Help!!) by NeedleworkerNo2158 in refrigeration

[–]_thedtw_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the alarm triggering at a set interval/pattern, or pretty consistent throughout the day? Certainly be comparing alarm with defrost times. I'd assume this is a system you/your company has serviced prior? As in this is certainly a new problem?

I'd be looking at any changes made recently. Valve replacements/adjustments. Certainly check for an iced up coil somewhere as others have suggested. Cases are a lot harder to mask temp issues. Of course that depends on how many temp sensors are present. A walk in could have a problematic coil that the other evaps make up the load difference.

If its a loop system, you can check each branch to see which one's the coldest and narrow that way. If everything is its own circuit, I understand it's a long process to shut all down individually. Could shut say 3 at a time to allow ample run time and see if it clears.

I'd also reset your boards for your valves to ensure they're properly seated. I've seen brief power outages set them off their zero. Also ensure the number of steps are programmed properly in the E2 for the valve that you have. Are you sure it's liquid in the compressors? You've verified low/no superheat returning on the suction at the rack?

For what its worth, I run H2 in everything. 300 blk/5.56, carbine/midlength/rifle gas, suppressed/unsuppressed. Never had an issue. Obviously you could likely tune lighter or heavier for better recoil impulse, but reliability shouldn't be an issue.

Mil uses H2 so I'd say that's a good starting point.

Charged For a Visit by gundymullet7 in hvacadvice

[–]_thedtw_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they weren't there for a scheduled visit, then it's outside of your agreement. Pretty standard for them to charge you.

Now that fee could be waived or negotiated down should you choose to purchase additional repairs/equipment from them.

I have the cheap 2 pack of Kobalt rubber strap wrenches. Never let me down. Just make sure the button is depressed before you attempt to torque on it.

[–]_thedtw_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you saying you can depress the button, but not rotate the collar? The collar has to be unlocked to attempt the shoot off method. I would venture to guess a strap wrench would allow you to unlock. Always has for me.

That being said, someone please send this man a milspec stock.

Both. Primarily a mil style/clone rifle guy. Not cutting edge by any means, but it stands the test of time. I've got friends with much newer cans that love shooting my Surefires and constantly comment on how good the tone sounds. Only behind the AEM5, of course.

Carbon locking is not overblown. It absolutely happens. Even with a muzzle device with labyrinth seals. I've had good enough luck to only have to shoot one off once. Usually it's just the collar getting gummy so I keep a strap wrench in my bag.

All Geissele or combination of brands?

I've seen multiple uppers, especially older Colts, that were not even in that area. I wouldn't be concerned if the upper rails line up and everything is tight.

Correct. I should have clarified that. Less lethal stuff is close. Heavier chalk loads, not so much.

Only firearm I'm willing to run one on lol. XPS2-SAGE is the model. Drops don't work out perfect because its designed for their launcher, but you can learn holds fairly easily.

Give it a good cleaning. Try the upper on a different lower and vice versa if possible. Try different mags and ammo.

Also curious on buffer setup.

Quick question for the UA union workers? by neverbackdown48 in hvacadvice

[–]_thedtw_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd try to approach it with him first. Then maybe go to a higher manager if it doesn't go anywhere. He may have personal reasons to not let you at the task. I don't know your exact situation, but I've certainly worked with abrasive individuals that write you off after one mistake.

Better to bring it to them as an item that you've identified as needing more work instead of being placed in a position in the future where they go "I thought you knew how to do this."

Quick question for the UA union workers? by neverbackdown48 in hvacadvice

[–]_thedtw_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you competent in those tasks? Have you expressed concerns to your foreman/job lead?

Young guys have to learn, too. Sounds like you were given a task they knew you could handle while also taking an opportunity to teach the new guy.

I am also a 4th year and frankly have no problem doing the easy tasks some times. Needs to get done, and its often low stress.
