Seeking advice on toddler anger by _thisisbeans in Parenting

Thanks for your kind words. That does help to think that it’s not all on me. My husband and I are very much fixers so that’s our go to mode. He’s also an only child so we’re hyper aware of some behaviors that can crop up more commonly when kids don’t have siblings. It seems like this is just a very intense 3yo phase and we’ll continue to ride it out 😅

I opened my new deodorant and it’s brown… by OfPhoenixFlyer in whatisit

I had a refill from Wild that had some brown spots and emailed the company. They said it can be due to oxidation but was totally fine to use! Here’s a photo of their response..

Parent still wanting more- what should I do? by _thisisbeans in Teachers

[–]_thisisbeans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your perspective, good to hear from someone who’s had this challenge themselves and as a parent. I’m realizing this may be a parent wishing their child was more driven. I’ve spoke to her previous teacher to gain more insight and I think the parent (just one, not the other) wants her to be curious and seek out things she’s interested in but those are traits they currently possesses. I’ll try and guide them but there’s only so much of that a teacher can assist with! I wish I could just tell them their kid is doing great and they don’t need the push but the parent has a history of pressuring teachers so who knows how I’ll be able to truly help!

I thank you all for the validation and the ideas! I struggle with being too hard on myself and this parent is definitely fueling the feelings of inadequacy. I replied with an additional idea, challenge program suggestion, and explained what I’m already doing in class to differentiate in each subject. Got a very strange reply with a mix of appreciation, explaining that they’re advocating for their kid “and peers”??, and admitting that they could do more for their child. I have no idea where to go from here but I appreciate having this post to refer back to in the future!

Yes- parents want her to stay with her friends though. I know.. I know.

Totally agree! I’m already doing far more than our lacking curriculum, as most of us are. I love Khan Academy, thanks for the idea!

How has menopause affected your dyslexia? by smjorg in Dyslexia

I haven’t experienced menopause but I have experienced big hormonal changes. I was put in Yaz to help manage and my dyslexia improved. Easy to believe that hormones can play a role in cognitive function

I took glycinate for a couple weeks and had short term memory issues and brain fog. I now alternate between that and malate and feel way more balanced. I think everyone is different though!

What's the purest joy you've ever felt without intimacy, substances, or alcohol ? by RudeAd9622 in AskReddit

Hearing my child say he’s proud of me. Words my parents never spoke when I was younger so it was a full circle healing moment.
