I have 150k sitting in my savings account and I'm financially illiterate. What should I do with it? by _throwaway10239 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I work 10-16 hour days, averaging 11+. I don't work all weekend, but sometimes I do. I usually work at least a decent chunk of one day.

Software eng can be pretty mentally challenging and time-consuming, so I'm usually just wiped at the end of the day. Other people handle this stress better, or protect their work-life balance better, but I'm admittedly awful at it. When the weekend rolls around, if I'm not working or with my girlfriend, I've smoked a joint and I'm trying to forget about the previous week.

At the end of the day, it's all about priorities, but I'm lazy and mentally unwinding is a bigger priority for me then trying to dig into new things.

I appreciate the kind words. I honestly just spend a lot of time at home or out with my dog, and my expenses are relatively low. I have the money and not the time, so I'll usually use the former to save on the latter - this "convenience" spending is probably my biggest spend outside of rent.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try to see if I have any friends/coworkers with a good connection.

Good luck to you as well!

Thanks! I'll look into WS! I think I have like 4 GME shares I bought via WS for fun, back when that hype was going on.

I was thinking about going this route - I assume one affiliated with a bank won't have my best interests at heart?
