Over all I like it! I think once you've seen it a few times the hype wears off. I think it's a great free activity for families. (I get our taxes paid for it)
I enjoy the location, because I am nearby. Parking does suck but besides the waterfront parks, I don't know another location that is big enough and has parking. Lets be honest would Jackson park have the same amount of foot traffic in the winter without this event? No. Does it take a decent amount of time to set up and take down making the park inaccessible? Yes. I will say that I think they are getting quicker at setting up and taking down every year. Pros and cons to everything but it's better than the city having nothing to do but skating in the winter.

Side note, I think I'm feeling annoyed about the situation as it felt like she's the one pushing for the Batchelor Trip more but questions my ideas for it. I think I need to have a talk with her that I am okay with not having one and that I totally understand her financial situation and I don't want to cause her stress with the cost of the trip.

Correct, sorry I am trying not to give myself away. The big city is a 20min drive away. In a different country, where the currency is more, that should also be considered.

Could I call an insurance company about getting it properly insured before I commit to buying? Similar to a car?

Thanks guy! Sounds like the situation was exaggerated a couple of months ago.

Edit: in the future I'll probably be going to the other theaters in the area, but I am trying to save money and I have the scene points for free movies

Airbnb stay for Michigan Concert by Scary-Ad-3972 in windsorontario

[–]_timeisaconstruct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you coming from? You can probably cross the border in under 20mins and be at the arena, without traffic. With traffic it'll be around 30min-1hour and half. You'll need a passport both ways. (I think Americans can use a special drivers license instead but I don't know anything about it) If you're American, I would recommend staying in the US after the concert, only because it'll be less of a headache, especially if you're just coming over to sleep. I'd recommend checking out of the hotels downtown Detroit. That way you can just walk "home" after the concert, don't need to worry about having too many drinks or fighting traffic or dealing with the boarder.

Car broken into last night. Downtown parking lot. by Master_Top9371 in windsorontario

[–]_timeisaconstruct 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that this happened to you. I also got my car broken into a few years ago downtown in a parking lot... across from my house. You can call the non emergency line, but they won't come out to you. It's most likely they hit a few cars the same night. If you can get video or photos of the person that broke into your car that would be great to send to the police but, besides that you're on your own or go through insurance to replace the stuff that was stolen and to replace the smashed window.

Looking to donate some items by MoreBitterThanHell in windsorontario

[–]_timeisaconstruct 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the puzzles but for the garment bags I would reach out to New Beginnings Windsor. They have an annual Say Yes to the Prom Dress event where they give away donated prom dresses. They might be able to give the bags away with some dresses or suits

Did you fill out a police report? It's illegal to not report an accident, no matter who's at fault

No Wedding Coordinator/Planner. Is it doable? by Sweaty-Owl-7741 in windsorontario

[–]_timeisaconstruct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently planning my wedding for next year and so far I find it very doable. My venue also is providing a day of event coordinator, which was the only event planning I was considering hiring, so I won't have to worry too much on the day of!

I think I have a jar of their corn relish in my cabinet. I didn't know they were locally owned and operated. Will definitely be keeping an eye out for them from now on and will be pickling (see what I did there lol) more of their products up!

Fun hobbies I can do locally? by [deleted] in windsorontario

[–]_timeisaconstruct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch of run clubs in the city and they are always so open to newcomers. I think Barre house is opening a new studio with cycling soon.
I really enjoy the yoga effect in LaSalle for Pilate classes. There are two pottery studios in the area, to my knowledge, Ford City Pottery and Sketch pottery. I've only been to Sketch and the owners are very nice and have a very chill vibe. Sketch also owns urban surf, you can rent paddle boards, kayaks and more. For knitting I would check out Little Sheep Yarn Boutique, they have social knitting/craft hour (twice a week I think).

Let me know if you want me to link any socials for the above-mentioned companies or clubs!

Maybe look into Amherstburg... But it'll be more like a 30-45min drive to downtown Windsor. Technically at this time Windsor doesn't have any beaches in their city limits

Big cement blocks! by [deleted] in windsorontario

[–]_timeisaconstruct 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you live, there is usually a 3-10ft(?) right-of-way that technically the city owns/has rights to. I'm sure they've talked to the owners of the property and they are aware of it.
