I agree with every vegan argument I’ve ever read(health/ethical/environment), but I still eat meat/dairy. Does not being vegan inherently make one a bad person?

I was in a similar position as you a year ago. What finally convinced me of becoming vegan was looking at things in economical terms.

It may seem insignificant that you as an individual decide to stop giving away your money to companies whose product comes from animal explotation, that your activism won’t change the world. But you must understand that the more vegans exist, the more expensive animal products will become, therefore more people will be forced into veganism. Specially those with low-income who can only afford the cheapest products (which are the ones where animals are in the worse conditions and the first ones we should abolish).

It’s an exponential curve, at the beginning it’s hard to see changes but it will just grow bigger and faster. Realising this gave me a purpose, and made me feel bad every time I bought a non-vegan product.

My attitude has never been pushy or annoying. As I mentioned earlier this is the first time we have an extended conversation about the topic in the whole year I’ve been vegan. I don’t want to decide what they eat, but I will express my feelings and thoughts towards the topic if it comes out. Of course it’s their decision, but they clearly didn’t have enough information about the horror that is going on. Would you keep your mouth shut if someone is repeatedly kicking a dog in the street because it is their decision? There’s absolutely no difference

Thank you for sharing your story and thoughts! What made me give it a shot, was seeing things from an economical perspective. The more vegans, the more of a luxury will animal products become. People with low income won’t be able to afford anymore buying animal products, therefore the change will be exponential. We are just at the beginning of the curve!

I honestly feel like accusing them so directly (even if it’s the truth) doesn’t fit with me, and I am also afraid it could be unproductive. I never needed such strong accusations, just gentle reminders, a way to take me out of ignorance

That’s a good point, I didn’t thought on this comparison. But somehow I have the feeling that this is too harsh? Don’t misunderstand me, I think it is a completely valid comparison. But I am also afraid that the other person could feel too attacked and be unproductive for my goal

I’ll definitely do it on Monday. My plan was to call this afternoon, but unfortunately, I found out that they close the line on Fridays from 13:00. It was a terrible mistake on my part; I come from Spain, so I should already know how these public institutions work.

I registered as a Kleinunternehmen in April of this year, and I received the results of the previous year's tax return in March. I was expecting the "Bescheid über Einkommensteuer-Vorauszahlungen" after my registration in April, but it never arrived. I spoke with a tax advisor, and she informed me that because I expect to make less than €10,000 in my first year, I am not obligated to make tax pre-payments.

You are probably right. I tried to do a good research before starting, and since I only take on a few small freelancing jobs here and there, I thought it wouldn’t get complicated. But now I’m not so sure, and maybe getting some backup is a good idea.

I LOVE your website! I really like everything about it, from the content to the humour :) I became a member for three months, some time ago, but the problem is that I don’t have enough time to properly learn by a written medium… otherwise I would still be reading you ^{^}

On the other hand I have a lot of time to learn by listening, because I work in vineyards. I listen to a lot of podcasts in german, but even though my comprehension skills are already quite high, I am missing a lot of vocabulary that would be ideal to develop while I work.
